Dustin Pedroia (knee) is “still not a point where he’s thinking about trying to be ready to come back,” per Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke.
Pedroia has appeared in a total of nine games at the MLB level since the beginning of the 2018 season due to complications with his surgically-repaired left knee, and it’s probably more likely that he retires than returns to the playing field. That said, the 36-year-old second baseman is under contract with the Red Sox for $13 million in 2020 and $12 million in 2021. Perhaps he’ll give it another go at some point.

Christopher Morel went 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored against the Rockies on Saturday.
Morel got the start in left field and was a bright spot in the lineup after the team was held to one run against the Rockies. He singled to lead off the eighth inning to reach base for a fourth time on the day and finally crossed the plate on a base hit by Taylor Walls to score Tampa Bay’s only run. The versatile 25-year-old is looking to bounce back from a disappointing season in his first full year with the Rays.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #54
Seth Halvorsen recorded a four-out save with one strikeout against the Rays on Saturday.
Halvorsen was called on with two outs and two runners on in the eighth to protect a one-run lead. He induced a groundout then pitched a clean ninth inning for his first save of the season. The 25-year-old right-hander could make his case to secure the closer role for the Rockies.
  • ARI Catcher #50
Diamondbacks sent C René Pinto outright to Triple-A Reno.
Pinto went unclaimed after being designated for assignment. The 28-year-old is organizational fodder at this stage in his career.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #49
Antonio Senzetala tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings with no strikeouts in a no-decision against the Rays on Saturday.
Senzatela had all of the fortune on his side on Saturday as he was able to keep the Rays off the board despite giving up nine hits and two walks without striking out a batter. We wouldn’t advise chasing this type of performance when the 30-year-old right-hander takes on the Phillies on the road on Thursday.
  • PHI Catcher #10
J.T. Realmuto exited Saturday’s game against the Nationals with a left foot contusion.
Realmuto went 0-for-4 before exiting. The Phillies say his exit was precautionary, but it’s still a situation to monitor. Rafael Marchan will handle catching duties with Realmuto out.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #52
Zack Littell held the Rockies to one run with seven strikeouts over six innings in a loss on Saturday.
Littell had to settle with the no-decision after getting no runs of support. Still, he was excellent against the Rockies, holding them to one run on four hits over six frames. The 29-year-old right-hander induced 14 whiffs to strike out seven batters. He’ll draw a tough matchup against the Rangers in Texas on Friday.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #31
Max Scherzer told reporters that his lat strain is “100 percent” related to the thumb soreness he’s been experiencing.
Scherzer told reporters that he tried to push through, but that he exited the game when he felt “imminent danger” of significant injury. “I got to get this 100% before I pitch again,” he said. There’s no guarantees, but it sounds very likely that Scherzer is going to be placed on the 15-day injured list.
  • BAL Shortstop #11
Jordan Westburg went 4-for-5 with two homers and three runs scored to lead Baltimore to a 9-5 victory over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Westburg is off to an incredible at the dish. He took Max Scherzer deep for a solo blast in the first inning. The 26-year-old infielder then added a single in the fifth and scored on a sacrifice fly before launching his second homer of the game and third of the season in the seventh inning off Chad Green. Westburg has started all three games so far while hitting third or fourth in the loaded Orioles lineup.
  • BAL Left Fielder #17
Colton Cowser went 1-for-5 with a solo homer against the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Cowser got on the board with his first home run of the season, taking Max Scherzer deep for a solo homer to lead off the game. It was his only hit of the game, but one he got all of as it came off the bat 110 mph. The 25-year-old slugger had a second batted ball of 100 mph in the eighth inning that was lined to the second baseman. Cowser has hit leadoff in all three contests so far, all against right-handed starters.
  • CLE Third Baseman #11
José Ramírez left Saturday’s game against the Royals with a right wrist sprain.
Not good. Ramírez went 0-for-2 with a walk before leaving the contest and was replaced by Gabriel Arias. The Guardians will likely have their star third baseman undergo further testing, but it’d be a surprise if he returns to the lineup Sunday.
