Rockies signed INF/OF Kelby Tomlinson to a minor league contract.
Tomlinson spent last year at the Triple-A level with the Diamondbacks and Mariners’ organizations, respectively, and hit just .247 at those levels. A former utility-player for the Giants, he’s nothing more than organizational depth at this point in his career.

Jon Gray (wrist) will make a minor league rehab start on Wednesday for Triple-A Round Rock.
Gray is working his way back from a fractured right wrist and figures to be ready to rejoin Texas’ pitching mix at some point before the end of July. The 33-year-old righty has been on the shelf since suffering the injury during the late stages of spring training.
Brewers' Hoskins lands on IL with sprained thumb
Eric Samulski evaluates why Andrew Vaughn should be added in deeper fantasy leagues after the Milwaukee Brewers placed slugger Rhys Hoskins on the 10-day IL with a sprained thumb.
  • BOS 3rd Baseman #2
Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters there’s a good chance that Alex Bregman (quad) will be activated this weekend.
Cora’s remarks back up his comments earlier in the day during a local radio interview on WEEI that Bregman was going to make it back before next week’s All-Star break. The 31-year-old third baseman figures to be activated later this week during Boston’s final first-half series against the Rays at Fenway Park.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #32
Trevor Williams has been diagnosed with a partially-torn UCL in his right elbow.
Williams is scheduled to undergo an internal brace procedure next week. It’s possible his surgeon decide that he’ll need a full Tommy John reconstructive procedure at that time. The 33-year-old will miss the remainder of the 2025 season and will miss some additional time at the outset of next year.
  • CHC 3rd Baseman #6
Matt Shaw is on the bench for Wednesday’s game against the Twins.
Shaw takes a seat on Wednesday night amid a brutal 17-for-101 slump that includes only one homer and six steals over his last 30 games. It’ll be veteran speedster Jon Berti getting a shot at the hot corner. It feels inevitable that the Cubs are going to bring in some extra third base depth at the trade deadline in a few weeks.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #39
Cubs recalled RHP Ethan Roberts from Triple-A Iowa.
Roberts has been summoned to join Chicago’s bullpen mix with Porter Hodge heading to the injured list with a shoulder impingement. The 27-year-old righty has made nine relief appearances this season in the big leagues. He’ll operate in middle relief situations.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #37
Cubs placed RHP Porter Hodge on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.
Hodge heads back to the injured list for the second time this season after serving up three homers and recording only one out during a calamitous relief outing on Tuesday night against Minnesota. The 24-year-old righty is going to wind up missing at least a few weeks, even in a best-case scenario.
  • MIA Left Fielder #7
Jesús Sánchez is on the bench for Wednesday’s game against the Reds.
Sánchez, who is hitting .321 (9-for-28) with one steal over his last seven games, will take a seat to open the contest with southpaw Andrew Abbott taking the hill for Cincinnati. It’ll be Dane Myers taking over in right field with rookie backstop Agustín Ramírez and unheralded Heriberto Hernandez moving up to the second and third spots, respectively, in Miami’s lineup.
  • NYY 2nd Baseman #90
Yankees recalled INF Jorbit Vivas from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Vivas has been summoned to join New York’s active roster in a bench role with DJ LeMahieu being jettisoned a couple days after losing his starting job at second base. The 24-year-old infielder got into 22 games earlier this season in the big leagues, batting .156 (7-for-45) with one homer and four RBI during that span. He’s unlikely to garner enough playing time to make an impact for fantasy purposes.
  • NYY 2nd Baseman #26
Yankees designated INF DJ LeMahieu for assignment.
The move doesn’t come as a total surprise since LeMahieu didn’t exactly have a role for New York after the club finally made the decision earlier this week to bench him in favor of Jazz Chisholm Jr. at second base. They’ll eat the roughly $22 million left on his original six-year contract that runs through the 2026 campaign. The 36-year-old doesn’t offer much defensive versatility at this advanced stage of his career and was hitting just .266/.338/.336 with two homers and 12 RBI across 142 plate appearances this season. It’ll be rookie Jorbit Vivas coming up to take his spot on the Yankees bench.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #27
    Pirates released RHP Tanner Rainey.
Rainey was hit hard in 11 relief appearances this season for Pittsburgh, compiling a frightening 0.57 ERA across 7 2/3 innings of work. The 32-year-old has been cut loose after spending the last month at Triple-A Indianapolis.
