Angels recalled LHP Adam McCreery from Triple-A Salt Lake.
McCreery holds a 3.79 ERA and 43/25 K/BB ratio over 40 1/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A this season. He was acquired from the Dodgers earlier this month.

Ketel Marte (illness) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Pirates.
Marte has now missed two games while recovering from his illness. The 31-year-old should be considered day-to-day, but Jordan Lawlar will get the start at second base while Marte recovers.
Mayer joins Red Sox after Bregman lands on IL
The Boston Red Sox called up top prospect Marcelo Mayer to replace injured third baseman Alex Bregman, and Eric Samulski discusses why you should still stash Bregman if your fantasy league has multiple IL spots.
  • CWS Right Fielder #47
White Sox scratched OF Joshua Palacios from Wednesday’s lineup against the Orioles.
No reason has been given for why Palacios has been removed from the lineup, but that info should be available shortly. In the meantime, Mike Tauchman was moved to the outfield, and Edgar Quero is now the designated hitter.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #76
Orioles optioned RHP Yaramil Hiraldo to Triple-A Norfolk.
Hiraldo pitched well in his MLB debut with 1 1/3 scoreless innings, but the Orioles will option him to Norfolk to pick up a fresh arm in the bullpen. In this case, it’s Matt Bowman.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #51
Orioles selected the contract of RHP Matt Bowman from Triple-A Norfolk.
Bowman gets the add to the active roster to give Baltimore a fresh bullpen arm. He’ll take the place of Yaramil Hiraldo, who was optioned to Triple-A to make room.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #60
Padres optioned LHP Omar Cruz to Triple-A El Paso.
Cruz was only with the Padres for two days in his latest stint. The 26-year-old returns to the minors with Kyle Hart called up for a start Wednesday against the Marlins.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #68
Padres recalled LHP Kyle Hart from Triple-A El Paso.
Hart will make the start Wednesday against the Marlins. The left-hander forged a less-than-desirable 6.00 ERA in his five starts before being demoted to the PCL, but he’s getting a friendly matchup on paper against Miami for anyone looking for a streaming risk.
  • BOS 2nd Baseman #28
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Kristian Campbell will play one game at first base in their upcoming series later this week in Atlanta.
Campbell has been taking reps at first base prior to games for the last week or so, and it seems like the Red Sox will finally see what he looks like in game action. Moving Campbell to first base would open up the possibility to put Ceddanne Rafaela back in the infield at second base and call up Roman Anthony to finally make his major-league debut.
  • MIN Center Fielder #25
Byron Buxton (concussion) took on-field batting practice on Wednesday.
Bobby Nightengale of the Star Tribune reported that Buxton could return for this weekend’s series in Seattle if he continues to respond well to his increased baseball activity. With Matt Wallner also potentially being activated for the weekend series, that could mean that DaShawn Keirsey Jr. and Carson McCusker head back to the minor leagues, with Willi Castro and Kody Clemens moving into super utility roles.
  • ATH 3rd Baseman #26
CJ Alexander is starting at first base and batting seventh for the Athletics on Wednesday.
It seems like Alexander will get the first opportunity to be the primary first baseman in Sacramento with Nick Kurtz on the IL. Alexander, who is a left-handed hitter, was recalled earlier in the week and sat against two lefties over the weekend before getting these last two starts. He was hitting .252/.348/.509 with 10 homers and 33 RBI in 42 games with Triple-A Las Vegas, so he’s not likely to be a fantasy option outside of AL-only leagues.
  • CLE Center Fielder #8
Lane Thomas is dealing with plantar fasciitis and will meet with doctors on Wednesday to determine his next steps.
Now we know why Thomas was held out of the lineup for two straight games. Today’s checkup will determine if he needs to return to the injured list or not, but Jhonkensy Noel should see a short-term spike in playing time.
