Orioles designated RHP Matt Wotherspoon for assignment.
The move clears a spot for Tuesday’s starter, Asher Wojciechowski, on the active roster. Wotherspoon was recently optioned to Triple-A after giving up five runs in 2 2/3 innings in his lone appearance.

Ketel Marte went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks on Friday against the Nationals in his return to the lineup.
Marte returned to Arizona’s lineup following a two-game absence due to illness. The 31-year-old has battled through some physical issues this season, but he’s remained an elite fantasy contributor, when he’s been out there.
Palencia 'asserts himself' as Cubs closer
Daniel Palencia has four saves in his last four appearances, and James Schiano examines how the 25-year-old flamethrower has officially asserted himself as the Chicago Cubs closer moving forward.
  • KC 2nd Baseman #19
Michael Massey (ankle) walked and struck out three times on Friday against the Tigers in his return to the lineup.
Massey was back at DH on Friday night after being scratched from Wednesday’s lineup with left ankle soreness. He’ll likely be limited from playing the field for a couple games, but it seems he’ll avoid a trip to the injured list.
  • LAA Center Fielder #27
Mike Trout went 1-for-5 with two strikeouts on Friday against the Guardians in his return to the lineup.
The critical takeaway for fantasy purposes here is that Trout made it through his return without any issues. The 33-year-old generational talent occupied the DH spot in the lineup following a one-month absence recovering from a bone bruise in his surgically-repaired left knee. It could be a while before he’s back in right field, but the Angels will certainly benefit from having his bat in the lineup again.
  • MIN Center Fielder #25
Byron Buxton went 2-for-6 with two RBI and also stole a base on Friday against the Mariners in his return to the lineup.
The encouraging development here for the Twins, and fantasy managers, is that Buxton looked like himself in this one after spending two weeks on the concussion injured list following a scary collision with teammate Carlos Correa. He picked up his ninth stolen base of the season out of the leadoff spot and should continue as Minnesota’s primary table-setter moving forward.
  • COL 2nd Baseman #39
Thairo Estrada went 0-for-3 with a run scored on Friday against the Mets in his Rockies debut.
Estrada made his long-awaited season debut after missing the first two months of the season recovering from a broken right wrist that he suffered back in spring training. The 29-year-old second baseman seemed like a logical bounce-back candidate for fantasy purposes after signing with the Rockies since he should benefit in the batting average department from Coors Field’s BABIP-boosting tendencies. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot, especially in deeper mixed leagues, especially if he’s going to start stealing bases again.
  • TB Center Fielder #28
Jake Mangum went 0-for-3 on Friday against the Astros in his return to the lineup.
Mangum needs to produce at the dish over the next few weeks in order to avoid being shipped to the minors in favor of speed demon Chandler Simpson, who is a true weapon thanks to his game-changing baserunning prowess. The 29-year-old outfielder was back in Tampa Bay’s lineup on Friday after missing five weeks with a left groin strain.
  • CIN Right Fielder #27
Jake Fraley went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer on Friday against the Cubs in his return to the lineup.
Fraley clobbered his fourth big fly of the season, taking Cubs starter Colin Rea deep in the sixth inning of his return from the injured list after missing three weeks due to a calf issue. The 30-year-old figures to eat into Will Benson’s playing time now that he’s back in the fold, but there should be plenty of at-bats to go around with Austin Hays (foot) landing on the shelf.
  • MIA Left Fielder #54
Dane Myers went 0-for-3 on Friday against the Giants in his return to the lineup.
Myers is likely to split time with rookie Victor Mesa Jr. in center field until Derek Hill (wrist) returns from the injured list. The 29-year-old was back in Miami’s lineup on Friday following a nearly three-week absence recovering from an oblique strain.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #66
    Cubs released RHP Julian Merryweather.
Merryweather was officially cut loose on Friday after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 33-year-old reliever struggled to a lackluster 5.79 ERA across 18 2/3 innings (21 appearances) this season for Chicago. He figures to latch on somewhere else as organizational relief depth.
  • LAD 1st Baseman #5
Freddie Freeman told reporters late Friday that he aggravated his surgically-repaired right ankle during Friday’s showdown against the Yankees.
Freeman might require some extra rest this weekend after telling reporters that he “sort of” aggravated his troublesome right ankle on Friday night during a rundown. The 35-year-old veteran first baseman required a brief injured list stint back in late March with a sprained right ankle and will continue managing this issue for the remainder of the season. Simply put, he’s never going to be truly 100 percent at any point this year. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for the moment. It wouldn’t be surprising if he got a day or two off to rest and keep it from becoming a more significant concern.
