Barry Enright has officially retired from pitching.
The 32-year-old will now serve as the pitching coach of the Diamondbacks’ Low-A affiliate in Hillsboro, Oregon. Enright logged 148 2/3 innings between the D-backs and Angels in 2010-2013 but hadn’t appeared in the major leagues since. He spent most of the 2018 season pitching in Mexico.

The A’s hope to have Nick Kurtz back from the injured list for Monday’s game against the Angels.
Kurtz has missed the last week with a hip flexor strain. He had caught fire just prior to the injury, going 7-for-17 with four homers and five walks in his last five games. Logan Davidson of CJ Alexander could be sent down once Kurtz is back.
Abel, Young among top Week 11 waiver-wire targets
Eric Samulski examines the top fantasy baseball waiver-wire targets for Week 11, highlighting Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Mick Abel and Seattle Mariners infielder Cole Young.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #32
Rockies activated RHP Chase Dollander from the 15-day injured list.
Dollander will make his return to the Colorado rotation tonight against the Marlins. He was 2-5 with a 6.28 ERA in eight starts before going on the IL two weeks ago with forearm tightness.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #29
Rockies placed RHP Tanner Gordon on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 31, with a left oblique strain.
Gordon might have been sent down anyway with Chase Dollander back, though Carson Palmquist was also a possibility. Gordon had a 4.24 ERA in three starts for the Rockies, but he allowed a few unearned runs and struck out only 10 in 17 innings.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #36
Rockies placed RHP Zach Agnos on the Bereavement List.
Agnos has been closing for the Rockies, picking up four saves in four chances. Seth Halvorsen is probably the leading candidate to step in for him these next few days.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #57
Rockies recalled RHP Angel Chivilli from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Chivilli was optioned eight days ago after posting a 6.14 ERA in 29 1/3 innings. He’ll pitch in middle relief, though maybe only until Zach Agnos returns from bereavement leave.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #39
Initial tests on Corbin Burnes’ elbow were inconclusive, and the right-hander is going for a second opinion.
Not ideal. Burnes, who was injured during his start Sunday, figures to be placed on the injured list prior to tonight’s game. Ryne Nelson is the obvious choice to replace him in Arizona’s rotation.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #48
José Ureña is signing a major league deal with the Dodgers, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Ureña can eat innings for a Dodgers club with an incredible 15 pitchers on the injured list. It’ll be Ureña’s third team this season after stints with the Mets and Blue Jays. Ureña holds a 5.87 ERA over seven appearances, six of which came with the Jays after recording a three-inning save with the Mets in a blowout.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #53
Reds selected the contract of LHP Joe La Sorsa and optioned him to Triple-A Louisville.
La Sorsa presumably was set to opt out of his Reds contract, but the team decided to keep him around by adding him to the 40-man. He’ll continue pitching at Louisville, where he has a 3.92 ERA and a 14/14 K/BB in 20 2/3 innings this season. The 27-year-old has a 4.47 ERA in 41 career major league relief appearances.
  • MIN Center Fielder
2023 first-round pick Walker Jenkins was assigned to the FCL Twins to begin a rehab assignment.
Jenkins hasn’t played since suffering a sprained ankle in his second game of the season for Double-A Wichita. He’ll likely play in a few games in Florida before rejoining the Wind Surge.
  • BOS Right Fielder #52
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports that one MLB GM said the Red Sox could “entertain the idea of moving Wilyer Abreu” at the trade deadline.
This is the very early stages of speculation, but it makes some sense with the Red Sox looking to find space for Roman Anthony in the outfield. Abreu is a talented 25-year-old, but he has taken a bit of a step back from a hot start this season, slashing .246/.327/.482 after ending April at .295/.417/547. He has seen a power improvement and still grades out as an above-average defensive outfielder, but his 4 Outs Above Average grade is lower than the 6 he had last year, and his defensive runs saved is down from 17 to 7. He remains an above-average starter, but the Red Sox could get a decent return for him and make room for Anthony at the same time.
