Angels re-signed RHP Alex Meyer to a minor league contract.
The once highly-touted prospect missed the entire 2018 season following labrum surgery on his throwing shoulder and was designated for assignment in mid-November. He’ll remain in the Angels’ organization though where he’ll add valuable rotation depth. If he can prove his health, he could challenge for a spot in the club’s starting rotation.

Taylor Walls delivered a game-winning sac fly as the Rays scored three times in the final two innings to edge the Astros 3-2 on Tuesday.
Walls’ fly to left was hit just 262 feet, but Christopher Morel took off from third anyway and Chas McCormick’s throw wound up wide of the plate. It was Walls’ second game-winner in two weeks, as he also had a bases-loaded walk to beat the Brewers on May 9. Walls is batting .186/.272/.229 in 136 plate appearances on the season.
Birdsong set to replace Hicks in Giants rotation
The San Francisco Giants are shaking up their starting rotation by replacing Jordan Hicks with Hayden Birdsong, and Eric Samulski examines what to expect from the 23-year-old starter in fantasy baseball.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #52
Zack Littell tossed five innings of two-run ball and struck out six Tuesday against the Astros.
Littell left down 2-0, but the Rays managed to make that up and win the game 3-2. It’s the sixth straight start in which Littell has allowed either two or three runs. He’s 3-5 with a 4.25 ERA through 10 starts on the year, and he’s due to face the Twins next.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #39
Manuel Rodríguez worked a scoreless ninth in a tie game and wound up with his first win Tuesday against the Astros.
Rodríguez has been one of the unsung heroes in the Rays pen, amassing a 2.42 ERA in 22 1/3 innings this season. He hasn’t earned any saves, so he doesn’t offer much fantasy value at the moment. Still, he should remain pretty valuable to the Rays until he’s inevitably shipped off for a couple of prospects at the 2026 trade deadline.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #75
Brandon Walter shut out the Rays for five innings and struck out five in his first major league start Tuesday.
This should be plenty good enough to keep Walter around for now and probably earn him another start Sunday against the Mariners. He might offer some AL-only value while in the Astros rotation.
  • HOU 1st Baseman #9
Zach Dezenzo finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Rays on Tuesday.
Dezenzo had been out of the lineup two of the previous three games. The Astros could opt to send him down once they activate Yordan Alvarez, though Cesar Salazar is also an option. Really, though, both Dezenzo and Cam Smith ought to be playing regularly, and it’s not great for Dezenzo that it’s not happening even with Alvarez absent.
  • LAD Catcher #16
Will Smith went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk in the Dodgers’ 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Smith doubled in the fourth inning to score Freddie Freeman and put the Dodgers on the board. It was the only run of the game until Arizona tied things in the ninth. Smith then got an at-bat with the bases loaded in the tenth and brought the game-tying run home after he was hit by a pitch. The 30-year-old catcher is hitting .339/.455/.508 with four homers, 26 RBI, and two steals across 156 plate appearances.
  • ARI Center Fielder #7
Corbin Carroll went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Carroll was hitless through his first four plate appearances before stepping to the plate in the tenth. He gave the Diamondbacks the lead with a two-run blast off Tanner Scott. The 24-year-old outfielder is up to 15 homers while hitting .277/.349/.597 with 40 runs scored, 34 RBI, and nine steals across 229 plate appearances.
  • ARI Catcher #14
Gabriel Moreno went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
With the Diamondbacks down 1-0 in the top of the ninth, Moreno tied things up with a solo homer off Tanner Scott. It was his third home run of the season, all against the Dodgers. All three homers have come in May while he’s hit .320 in the month. The 25-year-old backstop is hitting .266/.336/.387 with 22 runs scored and 13 RBI across 137 plate appearances on the season.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #66
Tanner Scott allowed three runs, two earned, over 1 2/3 innings to blow the save against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Scott was summoned to close out the game with a one-run lead over the Diamondbacks in the ninth inning. He surrendered a solo homer to Gabriel Moreno to tie the game. With the game going to extras, Scott remained in to pitch the tenth and gave up a two-run homer to Corbin Carroll to put Arizona ahead. Anthony Banda would record the final out and fall in line for the win after Los Angeles walked it off in the bottom of the frame. It was Scott’s third blown save and first runs he’s allowed since April 22, breaking an eight-game scoreless streak.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #18
Yoshinobu Yamamoto tossed seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Yamamoto was lights out against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. He had allowed just one walk through six no-hit innings before Ketel Marte led off the seventh with a base hit. Yamamoto walked one more batter in the frame before finishing the inning, collecting nine strikeouts on ten whiffs. The 26-year-old right-hander will take an outstanding 1.86 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a 68/18 K/BB ratio across 58 innings into a start against the Guardians in Cleveland on Monday.
