Rotoworld

  • MLB Outfield #24

Angels activated OF Chris Young from the 60-day disabled list.
Young is still rehabbing from labrum surgery on both hips. He’ll be a free agent this offseason and will probably have to settle for a minor league contract.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #39
Personalize your Rotoworld feed by favoriting players
Orioles activated RHP Andrew Kittredge (knee) from the 15-day injured list.
The 35-year-old has been out since undergoing knee surgery at the beginning of March. He should immediately return to a role as a late-inning bridge to closer Felix Bautista.
Birdsong set to replace Hicks in Giants rotation
The San Francisco Giants are shaking up their starting rotation by replacing Jordan Hicks with Hayden Birdsong, and Eric Samulski examines what to expect from the 23-year-old starter in fantasy baseball.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #59
Orioles optioned RHP Chayce McDermott to Triple-A Norfolk.
The 26-year-old was up for a spot start on Tuesday and will now head back to the Triple-A rotation. He likely remains the “next man up” if the Orioles need another starter in the coming weeks.
  • MIA 3rd Baseman #21
Graham Pauley will start at second base and bat eighth for the Marlins on Wednesday against the Cubs.
Javier Sanoja will be on the bench, and Otto Lopez will shit to shortstop. This is Pauley’s second straight start, and he’s getting a chance to carve out some playing time with Xavier Edwards sidelined. It won’t put Pauley on the fantasy radar, but the added versatility could increase his chances of remaining on the roster when Edwards returns, provided Pauley can start getting some hits.
  • STL Right Fielder #21
Lars Nootbaar will get a day off on Wednesday against the Tigers.
It’s just a routine day off for Nootbaar. Brendan Donovan will shift to left field with Nolan Gorman entering the starting lineup at second base.
  • TB 3rd Baseman #13
Junior Caminero is not in the starting lineup for the Rays on Wednesday against the Astros.
It’s a routine day off for Caminero, who has really struggled in May with a .180/.200/.279 slash line and just two extra base hits (both home runs) in 65 plate appearances. The 21-year-old is not at risk of losing playing time, but he will need to figure out an approach that works for him at the big league level. Jose Caballero will start at third base in his place with Taylor Walls at shortstop.
  • TB Center Fielder #14
Chandler Simpson (hand) is starting in left field and batting sixth for the Rays on Wednesday against the Astros.
Simpson had missed the last three games with a hand injury; although, he was able to pinch run and steal two bases on Monday. He’s now back in the starting lineup, which will shift Christopher Morel back to the bench against right-handed pitchers.
  • HOU 1st Baseman #9
Zach Dezenzo is not in the starting lineup for the Astros on Wednesday against the Rays.
Mauricio Dubon will start in left field and bat ninth, while Cam Smith will play right field and bat seventh. The Astros gave Dezenzo a chance to run with a starting outfield job while Smith was struggling, but the 25-year-old hit .214 in 50 plate appearances in May with a 36 percent strikeout rate. He is now at risk of being sent back to Triple-A with Shay Whitcomb heating up in the minors.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #41
Daniel Lynch IV will start for the Royals on Wednesday against the Giants.
This will amount to a bullpen game for the Royals with both Seth Lugo (finger) and Cole Ragans (groin) on the injured list. Lynch has been good this season, but he hasn’t pitched a full inning of relief since May 9th and hasn’t pitched two innings or more since May 3rd, so it’s highly unlikely he gives the Royals more than two innings on Wednesday.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #60
Astros optioned LHP Brandon Walter to Triple-A Sugar Land
Walter was great in a spot start on Tuesday, throwing five scoreless innings while striking out five and walking one. He will return to Triple-A with Forrest Whitley being called up to add a fresh arm to the bullpen.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #55
Astros activated RHP Forrest Whitley (knee) from the 15-day injured list.
Whitley has been on the shelf since April 27th and will now return to a potential multi-inning role in the Astros’ bullpen. He remains off fantasy radars.
