Diamondbacks 1B prospect Rudy Flores drove in a career-high six runs Sunday in a win for High-A Visalia.
He homered twice and scored three times as the Rawhide rolled to a 15-1 win over Lancaster. Flores has now hit safely in eight of his last nine games, batting .371 with 10 RBI over that span. The 25-year-old leads the California League with 47 RBI this year and is second with 14 home runs. He’s also third in total bases and fourth in slugging percentage. Despite his high strikeout rate (72 Ks), Flores owns a respectable .292 average over 226 at-bats this season.
  • ARI Shortstop #10

Jordan Lawlar is at third base and batting ninth on Tuesday against the Dodgers.
With shortstop Geraldo Perdomo in the midst of a career year and second baseman Ketel Marte playing at an MVP-caliber level, there simply isn’t a regular spot for Lawlar at the highest level between those middle infield spots. The 22-year-old top prospect gets onto the lineup card with veteran Eugenio Suárez receiving his first day off since April 20.
Birdsong set to replace Hicks in Giants rotation
The San Francisco Giants are shaking up their starting rotation by replacing Jordan Hicks with Hayden Birdsong, and Eric Samulski examines what to expect from the 23-year-old starter in fantasy baseball.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #59
Sean Manaea (oblique) will throw an up-and-down bullpen session on Wednesday.
Manaea is working his way back from a right oblique strain and continues to be brought along slowly after last month’s setback. The 33-year-old southpaw is still a bit away from starting a minor league rehab assignment, so it seems like he won’t make it back to New York’s rotation until late June or early July, even in a best-case scenario.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #47
Frankie Montas (lat) will face hitters on Wednesday in a live batting practice session at High-A Brooklyn.
Montas appears close to getting back into minor league game action as he works his way back from a lat strain that he suffered back in spring training. It’s theoretically possible he could make it back to New York’s rotation before the end of June.
  • LAA 2nd Baseman #87
Angels promoted 2B prospect Christian Moore to Triple-A Salt Lake.
The Angels have been extremely aggressive with Moore’s trajectory after plucking him with the eighth-overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. The 22-year-old second baseman’s long-term dynasty stock has taken a hit in recent weeks as he’s struggled to a pedestrian .234/.342/.323 triple-slash line with one homer and five steals in 34 games this season for Double-A Rocket City. He’s still a top-100 prospect, but he’s definitely gotten off to a slow start relative to last year’s impressive professional debut.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #61
Pirates selected the contract of RHP Isaac Mattson from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Mattson fortifies Pittsburgh’s relief depth with Colin Holderman hitting the injured list ahead of Tuesday’s contest against the Reds. The 29-year-old righty made three relief appearances last year for Cincinnati and has posted a strong 2.50 ERA across 18 innings (16 appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #35
Pirates placed RHP Colin Holderman on the 15-day injured list.
No official injury designation yet from the Pirates. The 29-year-old righty hits the shelf with a bloated 9.00 ERA across 15 innings (14 appearances).
  • PIT 2nd Baseman #39
Pirates transferred INF Nick Gonzales to the 60-day injured list.
It’s merely a procedural move to free up a spot on Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster. Gonzales has been out since Opening Day when he suffered a fractured left ankle.
  • TOR 2nd Baseman #0
Andrés Giménez (quad) is likely to require a minor league rehab assignment.
Giménez did some more running prior to Tuesday’s contest against the Padres at the Rogers Centre, but he’s going to need a handful of minor league contests to get back up to speed again. The 26-year-old second baseman hit the injured list back on May 8 with a right quad strain.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #0
Red Sox activated RHP Walker Buehler from the 15-day injured list.
Buehler returns to Boston’s rotation to start Tuesday’s showdown against the Mets at Fenway Park following a nearly three-week stint on the shelf recovering from shoulder bursitis. The 30-year-old veteran has looked sharp this season in his Red Sox debut, compiling a respectable 4.28 ERA across 33 2/3 innings (six starts).
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #68
Red Sox optioned RHP Nick Burdi to Triple-A Worcester.
Burdi heads back to the minors with Walker Buehler returning from the injured list to start Tuesday’s game at Fenway Park. The 32-year-old righty tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in a pair of relief appearances during his latest brief stint in the majors.
