Kumar Rocker turned in a solid performance in Thursday night’s start against the Rockies, striking out eight batters over 4 2/3 innings of two-run baseball.
The 25-year-old right-hander allowed six hits on the night while allowing one base on balls. While there was a parade of baserunners against him, the only damage came in the second inning on a two-run blast by Sam Hilliard. Rocker had looked like he would secure a spot in the club’s Opening Day rotation, but that picture is a bit cloudier after they brought in Patrick Corbin earlier in the week. Through four Cactus League starts, the 25-year-old right-hander holds an uninspiring 13.00 ERA, 2.33 WHIP and a 12/6 K/BB ratio across nine innings.
