ESPN’s Buster Olney reported Monday that Matt Buschmann exercised the opt-out clause in his minor league contract with the Rays.

The Rays have 48 hours from the time Buschmann exercises the opt-out clause to decide whether to add him to the major league roster, but Olney indicates that he could end up elsewhere. He names the Red Sox as the most likely landing spot, with the Dodgers also a possibility. Buschmann, 31, owns a 3.89 ERA with 7.2 K/9 and 3.3 BB/9 over 13 starts with Triple-A Durham this season.

Congrats to Kurtz on his first two-homer game of his career, even if it comes in a loss. The rookie 22-year-old doubled his total of roundtrippers to four on the season, and improves his OPS to .696. Expec some ups and downs from Kurz during his first taste of MLB action, but he offers significant offensive upside in his left-handed bat.

Taylor Ward doubled and tripled in a win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

The Angels are hitting the heck out of the baseball right now, and on top of four homers off JP Sears, Ward was able to contribute a pair of extra-base hits. He also singled, so he was just a homer short of the cycle. “Just” may not be the right word for it, but you know what we mean. Ward is now hitting .214/.259/.487 in 2025.

Logan O'Hoppe

LAA Catcher #14

Logan O’Hoppe homered twice to help the Angels to a 10-5 win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

O’Hoppe scored three runs in the contest, and he also drew a walk. The 25-year-old is now up to 13 homers on the season, and continues to look like a strong bet for power for the remainder of 2025 and beyond. He’s also hitting a very respectable .270 on the season, but it’s likely that number is going to drop as we get deeper into the summer. As long as the ball keeps going over the fence, fantasy managers won’t mind too much.

Zach Neto

LAA Shortstop #9

Zach Neto homered and stole a base in a win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

A nice combo meal for Neto on a night where the Angels hit four homers off JP Sears. That roundtripper for Neto gives him eight on the 2025 campaign, and he has the same number of stolen bases. The 2022 first-round pick has become a quality power/speed player, and he’s provided it with an average of .283. This is probably the ceiling for Neto, but that’s a pretty good ceiling.

JP Sears

ATH Starting Pitcher #38

JP Sears gave up six runs and gave up four homers in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.

Sears gave up eight hits — half of them leaving the park — and he struck out four without issuing a walk. If you take away the homers it wasn’t a terrible start, but you absolutely cannot do that no matter how hard you try. Sears has now given up 10 runs over his last two starts, and his ERA has risen up to an even 4.00 because of it. He’ll try and get back on the right track Tuesday against the Astros.

Jack Kochanowicz

LAA Starting Pitcher #41

Jack Kochanowicz walked five and allowed four runs — three earned — in a no-decision against the Athletics on Wednesday.

Kochanowicz continues to struggle to throw consistent strikes, and it bit him this time after not hurting him on the scoreboard in the previous two outings. He walked five, and that gives him 13 free passes over his last three outings. The right-hander also allowed two homers, and he was fortunate to not pick up a decision thanks to the red-hot Angels’ offense. Kochanowicz is a bad streaming option for next week against the Yankees.

Ketel Marte

ARI 2nd Baseman #4

Ketel Marte hit a solo homer in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Marte was responsible for the only run of the game with a solo blast off Dustin May in the fourth. That’s his seventh homer of the season for the 31-year-old, and he’s slugging .551 with a .387 on-base percentage. He remains one of the most underrated players in the sport outside of the state of Arizona.

Teoscar Hernandez

LAD Left Fielder #37

Teoscar Hernández hit a three-run homer in a 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

The Dodgers were shut out and quite honestly dominated by Corbin Burnes over six innings, but with a pair of runners on, Hernández unloaded on an offering from Burnes to give the Dodgers their 3-1 lead. The 32-year-old has his first homer since returning from the injured list, and his 10th of the season along with 38 RBI. As long as Hernández is healthy, he should be a very strong fantasy option.

Tanner Scott

LAD Relief Pitcher #66

Tanner Scott was able to fire a scoreless ninth to get a save Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Scott was dominant in his inning of work while throwing 12-of-14 pitches for strikes and whiffing two. The 30-year-old southpaw is up to double digits in saves now with 10, and his ERA has dipped to a very solid 2.31 for his trouble.

Dustin May

LAD Starting Pitcher #85

Dustin May struck out eight while hurling six innings of one-run baseball to get a win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

May gave up a solo homer to Ketel Marte, and he didn’t allow another extra-base hit throughout his six frames. He gave up just five hits in total, and he issued one walk while throwing 59-of-88 pitches for strikes. May has struck out 16 hitters over his last two stars, but this one was much more effective than his previous tilt against the Angels. He’ll try and continue to miss bats against the Guardians on Tuesday.
