Giants LHP prospect Carson Whisenhunt allowed one run (zero earned) on two hits in seven innings for Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.
The Giants have already removed Jordan Hicks from the starting rotation and replaced him with Hayden Birdsong, but Birdsong has had some command concerns in the past. If the Giants were to have to move anybody else into the rotation, it might be Whisenhunt, who has a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 52:7 K:BB ratio in 51 innings this season. He’s the top pitching prospect in the Giants’ organization and is knocking on the door of the big leagues.
