Smith, 20, has a 2.85 ERA and 96/29 K/BB ratio over 104 1/3 innings in 19 starts with High-A Wilmington this season. The stuff doesn’t quite match the impressive numbers, but it’s ultimately a pretty nice get for the Astros, as Maxwell is a useful platoon player at best.

Young still isn’t able to go after being scratched from the lineup Tuesday with tightness in his left shoulder. The 25-year-old will rest with Robert Hassell making his MLB debut and hitting seventh in Young’s place.

Brennan will be out for at least a week while recovering from his inflammation. The 27-year-old is replaced on the roster by Lane Thomas, as Thomas is back after missing a month with his wrist bruise. Brennan can safely be dropped in fantasy leagues, but that was true before the injury, as well.

Thomas is set to make his return to the Cleveland lineup after missing more than a month with a bone bruise in his right wrist. The 29-year-old is hitting second against the Tigers on Thursday, and he should be hitting near the top of the lineup more often than not now that he’s healthy enough to do so.

Jones was released by the White Sox in the early portion of May, and the 27-year-old will give the Astros some versatile depth in the minors. Houston will need to add the former first-round pick to the 40-man roster in order to promote him to the active roster.

The homer for Vivas was not only the only run for either team Thursday, but it was the first MLB homer of the 24-year-old’s career. The infielder has not excelled with the bat in his first taste of MLB action as seen in a slash of .182/.270/.303, but you can’t take this moment away from him, and you shouldn’t try, either.

Devin Williams also pitched well again with another scoreless inning, and his struggles appear to be over. That being said, Weaver has been outstanding in the closing role for the Yankees, and he’s now the proud owner of a sparkling 0.40 ERA to go with seven saves. There’s no reason to think that the Yankees are giving the closer role back to Williams soon, and that’s more compliment to Weaver than insult to Williams.

He struck out six and walked one. Eovaldi gets the loss even while allowing just one run because the Rangers were unable to solve Carlos Rodon and the New York bullpen. The only blemish was a solo shot allowed to Jorbit Vivas, but outside of that it was an outstanding effort from Eovaldi that lowered his ERA to an outstanding 1.60 on the season ander borderline unrealistic 71/9 K/BB ratio. Amazingly, those numbers come with a record of 4-3. The stat might be flawed. Eovaldi is back at it Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

It was another impressive outing for Rodon, and even with a shaky four-run effort against the Athletics on May 10, he’s allowed no more than two runs in five of his last six chances. Since the middle of April, Rodon now has an ERA of 1.47 with a K/9 ratio of 10.97. He’ll look to keep this run going against the Angels on Tuesday.

The game will be made up Friday as part of a split doubleheader, with the first game starting at 1:35 p.m. ET, and the second game scheduled for 7:10 p.m. Lucas Giolito and Cade Povich were the scheduled starters for Thursday, and likely will start one of the two games Friday.

Seager was placed on the injured list retroactive to May 11 with his hamstring strain, and the 31-year-old won’t be able be activated this week. It sounds like he could be available before the start of June, but fantasy managers are going to have to remain patient with the left-handed hitting shortstop.
