  • TOR Relief Pitcher #64

Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Chad Jenkins from Double-A New Hampshire.
Jenkins is a former first-round pick but has had a thoroughly underwhelming year at New Hampshire, posting a 4.96 ERA while striking out just 57 over 114 1/3 innings. He’ll likely be used as a long man out of the bullpen.

Astros INF prospect Shay Whitcomb went 4-for-5 with three home runs, three runs scored, and five RBI for Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday.
Whitcomb had hit a bit of a cold spell after a hot start to the month, but was red hot on Wednesday night. The 26-year-old is now hitting .264 with 16 home runs, 35 RBI, six steals, and a 49/23 K/BB ratio in 51 games at Triple-A this season while starting games at every position on the diamond other than catcher, center field, and pitcher. He has just an average 76 percent contact rate and 11 percent swinging strike rate at Triple-A, so he’s unlikely to set the world on fire at the big league level, but he has power and speed and the ability to play all over the field, so it seems inevitable that the Astros give him a shot soon.
Vest emerging as Tigers closer going forward
Eric Samulski dives into the closer-by-committee situation with the Detroit Tigers, sharing why Will Vest is likely the "primary option" after picking up his seventh save of the season.
  • KC 1st Baseman #14
Jac Caglianone went 3-for-4 with a double for Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday.
The sixth overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft is now 12-for-35 (.343) in eight games at Triple-A with five home runs and 10 RBI. He does have seven strikeouts to just one walk with a 14.3 percent swinging strike rate, so there is a bit of swing and miss in his game, but the power should more than make up for it. The Royals have been playing Caglianone in right field to expedite this path to the big leagues, and it does feel like he could be up any day. Keep in mind that Nick Kurtz had a lower swinging strike rate in Triple-A and still struggled to make contact when he was first promoted, so Caglianone is likely to strike out more at the big league level than he is right now, which will keep his batting average down. However, he and Roman Anthony are the two highest-impact bats likely to be called up this season.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #78
Thomas Harrington allowed nine runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings for Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old now has a 6.87 ERA on the season at Triple-A and seems to have been passed by both Braxton Ashcraft and Mike Burrows in terms of potential options for the Pirates’ rotation. With Bubba Chandler also in the mix, it seems highly unlikely we’ll see Harrington in the big leagues again this season, and he’ll need to turn the ship around fast if he wants to have a chance to compete for a 2026 rotation spot.
  • MIL 3rd Baseman #31
Bobby Dalbec went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, four RBI, and three runs scored for Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Dalbec now has six home runs with a .287 average and .862 OPS at Triple-A. At this point, we’ve seen Dalbec consistently produce at Triple-A only to strike out far too much at the big league level, but perhaps he gets another shot in Milwaukee.
  • MIL Catcher #83
Brewers C/INF prospect Anthony Seigler went 4-for-6 with a double, a triple, and three runs scored for Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Seigler is a unique player because he was drafted out of high school by the Yankees primarily as a catcher, but began playing games at second base in 2023 before fully transitioning to the position in 2024. The Brewers signed him as a minor league free agent this offseason and moved the 25-year-old back behind the plate, but have also recently added third base to his position grouping. That’s the intriguing part because the Brewers are getting nothing from the third base spot at the major league level while Seigler is hitting .298/.436/.534 with six home runs and 13 steals in 40 games at Triple-A. If he shows that he can handle third base defensively, then there’s a chance he could be called up to be a super utility player for Milwaukee.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #36
Cardinals RHP prospect Michael McGreevy allowed one run on six hits in six innings for Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.
McGreevy also struck out nine and walked just one against the Rays’ Triple-A squad. On the season, McGreevy is 6-1 with a 3.02 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 54/11 K/BB ratio in 50 2/3 innings at Triple-A. He showed well in spring training as well and is knocking on the door of the big leagues if a spot opens up in the St. Louis rotation.
  • TB Center Fielder #28
Jake Mangum(groin) went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.
Mangum is now 6-for-15 in his four games at Triple-A with three RBI and a 3/3 K/BB ratio. He has not attempted a single stolen base after stealing eight bases with the Rays earlier this season. Considering he’s on the IL for a strained groin, we need to see him start running if we can have any confidence that he could return to a similar level of production. With Kameron Misner hitting just .139 in May, Mangum could take his spot on the roster when he’s ready.
  • SD Left Fielder #21
Padres OF prospect Tirso Ornelas went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored for Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.
Ornelas wasn’t able to make the most of his first big league opportunity, but he continues to have a solid season at Triple-A, hitting .291 with three home runs, 26 RBI, and a .784 OPS. The Padres are trotting Tyler Wade out in left field with Jason Heyward (oblique) on the IL, so they may decide to give Ornelas another chance at some point.
  • CLE Catcher #6
David Fry (elbow) went 1-for-4 for Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.
Fry is 1-for-8 in his two games at Triple-A since having his rehab moved earlier this week. He has also yet to play the field in any of his eight rehab games, starting each of them at designated hitter. With Kyle Manzardo and Carlos Santana sharing first base and DH duties at the big league level, Fry is going to need to start playing the field somewhere for us to view him as anything more than a designated hitter against left-handed pitchers at the big league level.
  • NYY Shortstop #11
Anthony Volpe drove in a run while going 1-for-3 in a win over the Angels on Wednesday.
Volpe hit a sacrifice fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead in the first inning. It would be the last run that either team would score. Whether that’s a good thing or bad thing likely depends on one’s love of pitching duel’s and/or the baseball team that won. Volpe is slashing .246/.335/.442 in 2025 with 33 RBI over 199 at-bats.
