    Yankees released 1B Jorge Vazquez.
Vazquez clubbed 32 homers last season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but the organization would prefer to use Steve Pearce at first base in 2012. The 30-year-old will hope to latch on elsewhere.

Zach McKinstry went 2-for-3 with a homer and three runs scored on Friday night as the Tigers routed the Orioles 9-1 in Grapefruit League competition.
McKinstry drew a walk in the third inning and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jake Rogers. He then singled in the fifth and scored on a two-run double by Rogers. The versatile 29-year-old infielder then victimized Orioles’ closer Felix Bautista for a solo shot in the sixth that extended the Tigers’ lead to 9-1. He’s expected to open the season in the strong side of a platoon at third base for the Tigers, though his overall upside from a fantasy perspective remains quite limited.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #29
Tarik Skubal was terrific in his spring training finale on Friday, striking out nine batters over six innings of one-run baseball against the Orioles.
The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner looked to be in mid-season form in this one, carving up the Orioles’ lineup with relative ease. The lone tally against him came on a solo shot by Gary Sanchez in the fifth inning. He finishes Grapefruit League play with a stellar 2.33 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and an insane 24/1 K/BB ratio over 19 1/3 innings. It’s easy to understand why he and Paul Skenes are the top two consensus starting pitchers off the board in every fantasy draft.
  • BAL Catcher #99
Gary Sánchez went 1-for-3 and clubbed a solo home run as the Orioles were demolished by the Tigers on Friday night.
The 32-year-old backstop finally got the O’s on the board in the fifth inning as he launched a solo homer off of star left-hander Tarik Skubal. That would be his only hit in two at-bats on the night. Sánchez should see regular action against left-handed pitching for the Orioles in 2025, which could give him some utility from a fantasy perspective in deeper formats that rely on two catchers. He’s hitting just .161 (5-for-31) with one homer and one RBI on the spring.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #49
Albert Suárez was obliterated in Friday’s loss to the Tigers, giving up eight runs on seven hits in his 4 2/3 innings of work.
The 35-year-old right-hander also issued three walks on the evening while striking out a pair. Josue Briceno got him for a solo homer in the second inning then Ryan Kreidler blasted a two-run shot as part of a five-run uprising in the fourth inning that put the game out of reach. Suárez has had a forgettable spring, posting a 7.89 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and a 15/9 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings in his six appearances (four starts).
  • BOS Third Baseman #3
Ceddanne Rafaela plated the go-ahead run with a ground out in the eighth inning on Friday, leading the Red Sox to a 2-1 victory over the Pirates in Grapefruit League action.
In a game that was a scoreless pitcher’s duel into the home half of the eighth inning, the Red Sox finally broke through as Kristian Campbell was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a single, setting the stage for Rafaela to bring him home. The versatile 24-year-old has had another strong spring for the Red Sox, hitting .306 (11-for-36) with two homers, 10 RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #35
Garrett Crochet was brilliant in his final spring start against the Pirates on Friday, piling up nine strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball.
Crochet scattered five hits and two walks on the afternoon. The 25-year-old southpaw has looked every bit the ace that the Red Sox have been hoping for this spring, posting a minuscule 0.57 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a whopping 30/8 K/BB ratio in his 15 2/3 innings of work over five starts. He’s the third starting pitcher off the board on average in fantasy drafts this spring, behind only Paul Skenes and Tarik Skubal.
  • PIT Center Fielder #28
Tommy Pham went 2-for-3 and drew a walk as the Pirates fell to the Red Sox on Friday evening.
Pham singled off of Garrett Crochet in the opening inning, drew a walk against him in the third and singled once more against the star southpaw in the sixth inning. The Pirates were unable to cash him in any of those times though. He’s off to a very slow start overall on the spring, hitting just .175 (7-for-40) with a homer, one RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #23
Mitch Keller was outstanding in Friday’s pitcher’s duel against Garrett Crochet and the Red Sox, allowing just one hit over three shutout innings.
Keller struck out five batters on the impressive afternoon and did not issue a base on balls. The only baserunner against him came on a leadoff single by Triston Casas in the second inning and he never advanced past first base. The 28-year-old right-hander has been exceptional during Grapefruit League action, posting a 2.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 13/7 K/BB ratio over 15 innings.
  • KC Catcher #13
Salvador Perez went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer as the Royals edged the Mariners 8-7 on Friday.
Perez’s first spring homer was hit off Ambiorix... nevermind, that’s Juan Burgos. Perez has had an unusually quiet spring after suffering a laceration under his left eye on March 5. He’s currently sporting a .541 OPS, which is 300 points lower than his finishing marks from any of his previous six springs.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #24
Michael Lorenzen worked five innings and gave up three runs Friday against the Mariners.
Lorenzen’s 78 pitches today produced one missed swing and zero strikeouts. 12 of the 21 balls in play against him were hit hard. Still, he kept it together, as per usual. His spring ends with a 4.20 ERA and an 8/4 K/BB in 15 innings.
