Cubs sent RHP Andy Sonnanstine outright to Triple-A Iowa.
The move clears him from the 40-man roster. Sonnanstine has given up eight runs on 13 hits over five innings this spring and will function as rotation depth in the minors.
  • TOR Shortstop #11

Bo Bichette (knee) will hit third and play shortstop against the Angels on Friday.
Bichette is back in the lineup for the first time since he was diagnosed with knee discomfort and scratched from Monday’s game. The 27-year-old is back, but Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not in the lineup Friday, so Toronto fans will have to wait a day to see their dynamic duo back together.
Hold Muncy if placed on injured list
Eric Samulski advises fantasy managers to "hold" Max Muncy if placed on the injured list, who has produced in a big way since the beginning of May, and discusses the outlook for Dodgers' call-up Esteury Ruiz.
  • TOR 1st Baseman #27
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Angels.
This appears to just be a day off for Guerrero and not injury-related, but stay tuned for further updates if that’s not the case. The 26-year-old gets Independence Day off with Will Wagner hitting eighth and getting the start at first in Guerrero’s absence.
  • CWS 3rd Baseman #41
White sox designated INF Vinny Capra for assignment.
It’s not such a wonderful life for Capra, as he’ll now hit the waiver wire with Colson Montgomery getting recalled from Charlotte to make his MLB debut. Capra may see some interest on the waiver wire from a team needing infield depth, but it’s just as likely that he reports to Charlotte himself after going unclaimed.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #55
White Sox activated LHP Fraser Ellard off the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte.
Ellard will continue to work in Charlotte, but not on a rehab assignment. The White Sox likely will give him a chance in a bullpen role in the coming weeks.
  • CWS Shortstop #83
White Sox recalled INF Colson Montgomery from Triple-A Charlotte.
Montgomery is up and will likely make his MLB debut to begin Friday’s series against the Rockies. The 23-year-old offers significant power in his left-handed bat and has shown patience at the plate, but he’s hard to bet on in the average category because of how much swing-and-miss in his profile. He’s a high-risk, medium-high reward player at this stage in his career.
  • BAL 2nd Baseman #11
Jordan Westburg (finger) is hitting second and playing third base agaisnt Atlanta on Friday.
Westburg missed five straight games with his left index finger injury, and while he told reporters he won’t be 100 percent for a while, he’s good enough to go for the opening game against Atlanta on Friday.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #76
Red Sox placed RHP Zack Kelly on the 15-day injured list with a right oblique strain.
Kelly’s option to Triple-A Worcester was rescinded, and instead he’ll be placed on the shelf for the next couple of weeks. He could be back in the Boston bullpen shortly after the All-Star break.
  • BAL Right Fielder #9
Orioles activated OF Tyler O’Neill off the 10-day injured list.
As expected, O’Neill is ready to go to begin a three-game series against Atlanta. The 30-year-old ended up missing six weeks with his shoulder issue, and has not been effective in his first season in Baltimore. There’s time for that to change, and fantasy managers have seen what O’Neill is capable of when healthy and “locked in.”
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #49
Mets recalled Chris Devenski from Triple-A Syracuse.
Devenski will be an option out of the bullpen while Jose Butto (undisclosed) is unavailable through the All-Star break. That doesn’t guarantee that Devenski will be here that long. That’ll depend on his usage/effectiveness.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #70
Mets placed RHP Jose Butto on the 15-day injured list.
The injury isn’t being disclosed, but the hope is that Butto is back shortly after the All-Star break. Chris Devenski will take his roster spot.
