Justin Smoak (groin) is out of the Mariners’ starting lineup on Monday against the Indians.
Smoak strained his groin last Wednesday and hasn’t made a start since. He should be available to pinch-hit. Mike Carp is starting at first base Monday vs. the Tribe.

2023 first-round pick Walker Jenkins was assigned to the FCL Twins to begin a rehab assignment.
Jenkins hasn’t played since suffering a sprained ankle in his second game of the season for Double-A Wichita. He’ll likely play in a few games in Florida before rejoining the Wind Surge.

Eric Samulski examines the top fantasy baseball waiver-wire targets for Week 11, highlighting Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Mick Abel and Seattle Mariners infielder Cole Young.
  • BOS Right Fielder #52
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports that one MLB GM said the Red Sox could “entertain the idea of moving Wilyer Abreu” at the trade deadline.
This is the very early stages of speculation, but it makes some sense with the Red Sox looking to find space for Roman Anthony in the outfield. Abreu is a talented 25-year-old, but he has taken a bit of a step back this season, slashing .246/.327/.482. He has seen a power improvement and still grades out as an above-average defensive outfielder, but his 4 Outs Above Average grade is lower than the 6 he had last year, and his defensive runs saved is down from 17 to 7. He remains an above-average starter, but the Red Sox could get a decent return for him and make room for Anthony at the same time.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #24
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports that the Orioles could trade either Zach Eflin or Tomoyuki Sugano at the trade deadline.
The Orioles are staring at long playoff odds, so the team is likely looking towards moving players who are not under team control for assets that could help them in 2026 and beyond. Both Eflin and Sugano are free agents-to-be, so they would seem the most likely starters to be traded away. That would open up a rotation spot for last year’s trade deadline acquisition, Trevor Rogers.
  • NYY Left Fielder #24
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Jasson Domínguez is dealing with swelling in his thumb and will not be in the lineup on Tuesday against the Guardians.
Domínguez was pulled from Sunday’s game after hurting his thumb while sliding into second base. The 22-year-old is now dealing with enough swelling that he will be out of the lineup today and will have trainers further evaluate the injury. If Domínguez were to need an IL stint, it would likely mean that Trent Grisham would find himself with a full-time role.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #38
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Devin Williams “will do most of the closing” while Luke Weaver (hamstring) is on the IL.
This makes sense since Williams has been scoreless in 10 of his last 11 appearances while registering a 15/2 K/BB ratio in those 10 innings. He has had more success in the eighth inning than the ninth inning since joining the Yankees, but he has a long track record of success as a closer and should slide back into the role for the next month or more. However, the fact that Boone said “most of the closing” implies that there could be some stray saves for Fernando Cruz or maybe Tim Hill if there is a pocket of left-handed hitters coming up.
  • NYY Center Fielder #13
Aaron Boone said that Jazz Chisholm (oblique) will be in the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Guardians.
Chisholm was diagnosed with three separate tears in his oblique on May 7th and was expected to miss four to six weeks. The fact that he beat that timeline back onto the field is impressive, but it does make you question how healthy he is. The 27-year-old was hitting just .181/.304/.410 with a 31.2 percent strikeout rate in 30 games before getting hurt; however, he did have seven home runs and six steals to help provide fantasy value. The Yankees will allegedly use Chisholm at third base now that he’s back, which should open up second base for DJ LeMahieu and means that Jorbit Vivas would head to the bench or the minors.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #26
Austin Gomber (shoulder) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday for Double-A Hartford.
Gomber has been on the injured list since early March with a shoulder injury. He suffered a setback when he first tried to begin his rehab process in early April, and now will try and begin the process again. It will likely be early July before he becomes an option for the Rockies.
  • CIN 3rd Baseman #3
Jeimer Candelario (lumbar spine strain) began a rehab assignment with the Rookie-level ACL Reds on Monday.
Candelario has been on the injured list since April 30th with a spinal strain, so his rehab process will likely be a long one. In his first game, he went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk and made an error while playing third base. The veteran was hitting .113/.198/.213 in 22 games this season, so he will need to show improved performance on the rehab assignment before the Reds bring him back and push Santiago Espinal back to the bench.
  • ATH Shortstop #5
Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said that Jacob Wilson “jarred his neck” on a dive into first base in the sixth inning on Monday night.
He was removed from the game in the ninth inning, but the game was also out of hand at that point, so it’s unclear if the injury will cause Wilson to miss any time. We should know more before Tuesday’s game.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #50
Kutter Crawford (knee) will begin a rehab assignment this week.
Crawford has been out all season while battling a knee injury that first popped up last season. The Red Sox are unlikely to rush him back, given the length of his injury, but Crawford could potentially be ready for big league innings by early July. As of now, the Red Sox claim that Crawford will remain a starting pitcher, but he has experience out of the bullpen as well, so if Richard Fitts or Brayan Bello pitch well enough to remain in the rotation, Crawford could help the team as a reliever.
