Chase Headley (finger) hopes to play during the final homestand of the season, which begins on September 23.
Headley hasn’t played since August 6 due to a fractured left pinkie finger. He took batting practice again Tuesday and could receive medical clearance as soon as this weekend. However, because of the nature of the injury, Headley will only hit left-handed if he returns this season.

Daniel Álvarez-Montes of EL Extrabase reports that the Rangers are promoting outfield prospect Alejandro Osuna before Sunday’s game against the White Sox.
Osuna will need to be added to the 40-man roster in order for the promotion to happen. The 22-year-old is one of the top hitting prospects in the Texas system, and is slashing .279/.386/.414 with two homers and nine stolen bases in his time with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. Osuna offers some long-term upside because of his speed and potential hit tool, but would be a risky fantasy add in the majority of redraft formats.
Top prospect Clarke to be called up by Athletics
Following the Atheltics' announcement that they are calling up prized outfield Denzel Clarke, James Schiano discusses what the toolsy prospect with "blazing speed" will bring to the pro level.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #27
Aaron Nola (ankle) is still dealing with soreness in his right ankle.
“No bullpen today,” Phillies manager Rich Thomson said in regards to Nola. “He was still a little sore today. It’s day by day. We’ll see if he’s OK tomorrow,” The team was hopeful he could throw a bullpen before one of the three games against the A’s, but it doesn’t appear that’s likely to happen now. Nola seems very unlikely to return to the Philadelphia rotation before the end of May, and this could push into the middle of June.
  • TB 3rd Baseman #13
Junior Caminero hit a three-run homer in the first inning Saturday, and the Rays made it stand up in a 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays.
With one out in the first, Jose Lowe walked, Brandon Lowe singled and Caminero took a pitch 387 feet out to left-center. That Rays had just one hit and one walk over the remainder of the contest, but the Jays never caught up. The homer was Caminero’s ninth, and it gave him his first RBI in 11 days. He’s hit just .208/.232/.358 over his last 27 games, but things still figure to get better here.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #11
Shane Baz held the Blue Jays to one run in 5 2/3 innings in a win Saturday.
The lone run came on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s homer in the sixth. Baz allowed four hits, walked three and struck out four. He’s totaled 16 strikeouts and seven homers allowed in 25 1/3 innings this month, which just isn’t very encouraging. Still, he got a win tonight, his first since Apr. 25.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #29
Pete Fairbanks worked around two walks in a hitless ninth to pick up his 10th save on Saturday.
We figured the Rays would hold the injury-prone Fairbanks out tonight after he worked three of the previous four days, but we were incorrect. It seems like they’re playing with fire here, given that, at 22 innings, Fairbanks is already pretty much halfway to his career high of 45 1/3. Fairbanks will sit Sunday, which could open the door for Edwin Uceta to pick up a save.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #17
José Berríos pitched six innings and allowed three runs Saturday in a loss to the Rays.
Berríos hasn’t been dominant at any point, but this is his sixth quality start to go along with a pair of other nice outings in which he didn’t quite complete six innings. He should have at least four or five wins. Instead, due to a lack of offense and the bullpen blowing leads for him on three occasions, he’s 1-2 with a 4.22 ERA. He’ll face the A’s next.
  • TOR Right Fielder #25
Anthony Santander went 2-for-2 with two walks in his return to the Blue Jays lineup Saturday against the Rays.
Both hits were singles, but one was a nice liner and the other was a 105-mph grounder. It’s the first time this season that he’s reached base safely four times in a game, and it raised his OBP from .270 to .286. Santander didn’t start the previous two games because of continued issues with his hip.
  • CLE 3rd Baseman #11
José Ramírez scored twice while going 2-for-5 in a win for the Guardians over the Tigers in 10 innings Saturday.
The man they call J-Ram singled twice, and one of those knocks drove in a run in the third. The 32-year-old star has now plated 26 runs on the year, and he’s slashing .308/.365/.519 over the first seven weeks of the season. The only reason Ramírez may not keep up this level of production is that there’s a great chance he’s even better over the final 2/3 of the season.
  • CLE Catcher #23
Bo Naylor hit a solo homer and drove in two runs in the Guardians’ 7-5 win over the Tigers on Saturday in extra innings.
Naylor clobbered a solo shot off an otherwise-effective Casey Mize in the third inning for his seventh homer of the season. The 25-year-old also picked up an contributed a sacrifice fly for his second RBI of the game in the 10th, but his RBI total still sits at a less-than-spectacular 16 over the first 51 games. Naylor still have the potential to be a fantasy option behind the plate, but there’s a lot of work to be done.
  • DET 2nd Baseman #25
Gleyber Torres reached five times and drove in a pair in an extra-inning loss to the Guardians on Saturday.
The pair of RBI came in the 10th inning, but they came with with the Tigers trailing the Guardians by four runs. He also singled and drew three walks to up his slash to .281/.374/.432. It took a while for Torres to find a market in the offseason, but the Tigers have to be pleased with his production over the first third of 2025.
