    Giants released RHP Jose Casilla.
Recovering from Tommy John surgery, Casilla was on the Giants’ 40-man roster, but pitching for High-A San Jose. Only 22, he still has a shot at eventually making the big leagues.

Luis Arraez went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a walk as the Padres came back to beat the Cubs 8-7 on Sunday.
Arraez had the Padres’ only hit in the ninth-inning rally that produced the go-ahead run. He has six hits the last two days to raise his average from .129 to .256. It’ll only keep going up from here.

Kyle Hart failed to make it through the first Sunday against the Cubs, walking four and giving up five runs in two-thirds of an inning.
And the Padres ended up winning anyway. Hart threw 39 pitches, 18 of them strikes, before finally being yanked. He should stay in the rotation for now and face the Rockies next weekend, but he’s in line to lose his spot after Yu Darvish returns.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #75
Robert Suarez fanned two in a perfect ninth for his fourth save Sunday against the Cubs.
Jason Adam is looking even better than Suarez to date, but it’s not going to matter unless Suarez goes into an extended slump. The 2024 All-Star has four saves with his four scoreless innings.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #32
Ben Brown allowed five runs in four innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Padres.
Brown gave up three runs in the first, only to see the Cubs come back with seven runs over the next two innings. Still, it wasn’t enough to get Brown a win. He allowed seven hits and walked four before being lifted. It won’t get any easier for him next time out against the Dodgers.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #55
Brought into a tie game in the ninth, Ryan Pressly took a loss after a Justin Turner error extended his inning against the Padres.
Pressly made his own trouble by walking Elias Díaz ahead of the top of the Padres order, but he should have gotten out of it, even if he did allow three hard-hit balls along the way. The Cubs previously blew a lead in the eighth today because their best reliever, Porter Hodge, gave up a run. Pressly isn’t impressing, but since he is 3-for-3 saving games, he’s fairly secure at the moment.
  • CHC Left Fielder #30
Kyle Tucker had a two-run homer, an RBI single and a walk against the Padres on Sunday.
He’s played a couple of more games than most of the league, but Tucker is second in the majors in homers (five), RBI (15), runs scored (13) and walks (12). We’re still not sure that Wrigley Field is the best place to maximize his fantasy value, but he’s on an absolute tear right now.
  • CHC Second Baseman #2
Nico Hoerner had three hits, including an RBI double, and two steals against the Padres on Sunday.
With six steals in nine games, Hoerner has been extra active on the basepaths. He’s also struck out just once in 40 plate appearances and is batting .361, so there’s a whole lot to like about his start.
  • COL Center Fielder #9
Brenton Doyle went 3-for-5 with a homer, double and four RBI on Sunday afternoon, propelling the Rockies to a 12-5 victory over the visiting Athletics.
Doyle got the Rockies on the board with a 385-foot (109.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Joey Estes to start the home half of the first inning. He then whacked a two-run double in the second inning that gave the Athletics a 4-2 advantage. Doyle added on an RBI single in the eighth to tack on an insurance run. With his three-hit attack, the dynamic 26-year-old outfielder is now slashing .268/.302/.390 with one homer and five RBI on the season, though he’s still searching for his first stolen base.
  • COL Shortstop #14
Ezequiel Tovar went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBI on Sunday as the Rockies triumphed over the Athletics.
Tovar singled in the opening inning, swiped second base and then came around to score on a two-out RBI single off the bat of Kris Bryant. He then added an RBI double in the second inning that increased the Rockies’ lead to 5-2. Tovar also doubled in the fourth and scored on an RBI knock by Ryan McMahon. He finished his day with a two-run single in the eighth inning that made it a 10-4 ballgame. With the four-hit effort, the 23-year-old shortstop is now hitting .282/.300/.436 with zero homers, four RBI and one stolen base to open the 2025 campaign.
  • COL Third Baseman #23
Kris Bryant went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Rockies crushed the Athletics on Sunday afternoon at Coors Field.
Bryant plated Ezequiel Tovar with a single in the first inning that tied the game at 2-2. The 33-year-old slugger also smacked a leadoff double in the third inning and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Tyler Freeman. Even with the two-hit afternoon though, Bryant is slashing a gruesome .174/.240/.217 with only one RBI on the season and remains a useless option in most fantasy formats.
