  • MIN Outfielder
Twins transferred outfielder Josh Rabe from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Rabe is out for the season after surgery to repair a torn labrum.
  • NYY Left Fielder #22
Juan Soto hit his 40th homer, doubled and walked twice as the Yankees crushed the Mariners 11-2 on Tuesday.
This was quite the homer from Soto; it was the 200th of his career, it gave him 40 in a season for the first time and, being his first in Seattle, it gave him homers in all 30 current big-league ballparks. Soto joins Alex Rodríguez, Jimmie Foxx, Eddie Mathews, Mel Ott, Mickey Mantle, Frank Robinson, Albert Pujols and Mike Trout as the only players to hit 200 homers through their age-25 seasons.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #81
Luis Gil allowed one run over five innings Tuesday in a victory over the Mariners.
Gil was a bit wild tonight, walking three and plunking Victor Robles. His velocity was also down some, and nine of the 13 balls in play against him were hit hard. Still, none of that resulted in much of the way of scoring. Barring a change — which is possible with the Yankees pulling away in the AL East — Gil will make his next start Sunday against the A’s.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #0
Marcus Stroman recorded his second career save with three innings of one-run ball against the Mariners on Tuesday.
Stroman’s previous save came in the last outing of his rookie season in 2014. This one saw him finish up an 11-2 game in his first relief appearance of the season. The Yankees could have him make another start sometime next week, but it’s clear he’s not currently in their postseason rotation plans.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #22
Bryan Woo was tagged for seven runs in 4 2/3 innings by the Yankees on Tuesday.
Woo fanned seven. He had 20 whiffs and a 33% CSW. Still, the Yankees hit him pretty hard, collecting two homers, three doubles and four singles. Woo is due to face the Rangers on Sunday and the A’s the following weekend. This isn’t the time to bail on him.
  • NYY Center Fielder #89
Jasson Domínguez hit his first homer Tuesday in the rout of the Mariners.
He also worked a walk. Domínguez’s homer was a 414-foot shot to center off Bryan Woo. He’s 4-for-20 with just the one RBI since being called up last week.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #47
Griffin Channing allowed only three hits over six innings in the Angels’ 5-0 shutout of the White Sox on Tuesday.
The White Sox were shut out for the 19th time this season. Only the 2019 Marlins (22), the 2022 Tigers (22) and the 2008 Nationals (21) have been shut out more often since 2000. It’s the first time since May 23, 2023 that Canning has been part of a shutout. He’s likely to make his next start Sunday against the Astros.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #65
Davis Martin dropped to 0-5 after allowing three runs in five innings Tuesday against the Angels.
If it makes him feel any better, Martin still likely would have lost tonight if he had allowed just one run. As for us, we’re mostly disappointed that we never got a Davis Martin-Davis Daniel matchup this season. Martin will likely face the Angels again next week.
  • LAA First Baseman #34
A day after hitting his first big-league homer, Eric Wagaman delivered his second as part of a 3-for-4 game against the White Sox on Tuesday.
Wagaman launched a 434-foot homer off Enyel De Los Santos, giving him as many homers in two days as Anthony Rendon has hit in two years. The Angels probably weren’t looking at the 27-year-old as being in their plans for 2025 when they promoted him a week ago, but five extra-base hits in seven games is going to earn him some consideration.
  • HOU Left Fielder #30
Kyle Tucker went 2-for-4 with a walk and drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th as the Astros edged the Padres 4-3 on Tuesday.
Two bad calls went against the Astros late in this one, but they wound up not mattering. Tucker plated the lone run in the 10th with a single to left. He’s hitting .290 with one homer and five walks in 39 plate appearances since coming off the injured list.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #58
Hunter Brown turned in a quality start against the Padres on Tuesday, allowing two runs in six innings.
Both runs came on Manny Machado’s homer in the sixth. Brown has given the Astros four quality starts since he last won on Aug. 17. Expectations are that he’ll make his next start Monday versus the Astros.
