Diamondbacks recalled outfielder Chris Young from Triple-A Tucson.
This would seem to show exactly what the Diamondbacks think about Carlos Quentin’s ability to play center fielder. Eric Byrnes is playing well enough that Young isn’t going to have much to do, though the 22-year-old is starting in center field tonight. He’ll probably join fellow rookie Alberto Callaspo on the bench most of the time. Maybe a Shawn Green trade would give him a little value in NL-only leagues.

Orioles’ interim manager Tony Mansolino told reporters after Sunday’s victory over the Red Sox that Adley Rutschman (head) was removed for precautionary reasons.
Rutschman was pulled from the game a few innings after taking a foul tip off of his face mask. While Mansolino wouldn’t say whether or not Rutschman is officially in the concussion protocol, he did note that the 27-year-old backstop will continue to be monitored for the next 24 hours. Fantasy managers may want to have a contingency option in place in the event that Rutschman isn’t ready to go for the start of next week.
Top prospect Clarke to be called up by Athletics
Following the Atheltics' announcement that they are calling up prized outfield Denzel Clarke, James Schiano discusses what the toolsy prospect with "blazing speed" will bring to the pro level.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #0
Walker Buehler allowed two runs on four hits in five innings in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday.
Buehler wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t particularly good either. He didn’t allow much hard contact apart from a solo home run to Dylan Carlson, but he also recorded just a 15 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW. He struggled to find the zone with his four-seam fastball and sweeper, which led to few swinging strikes on the day. It’ll be tough to start him against the Braves next week.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #40
Chris Bassitt allowed five runs in four innings and took the loss against the Rays on Sunday.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #44
Ryan Pepiot tossed seven scoreless innings and got the win in the Rays’ 13-0 victory over the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Pepiot gave up three hits, walked one and struck out five. The 27-year-old right-hander has completed at least six innings in eight of 11 starts this year. Pepiot lowered his ERA to 3.55, though his xFIP isn’t quite as good at 4.04. He’s benefited from an 81.5 percent left on base percentage this season. Pepiot is set to face the Astros on the road next weekend.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #64
Dean Kremer threw 5 1/3 shutout innings while striking out four and walking one in a win over the Red Sox on Sunday.
Kremer allowed seven hits, but five of them were singles, and he posted a 28 percent whiff rate and 31 percent CSW on the day. In fact, the only pitch the Red Sox hit hard on Sunday was the curveball, which is Kremer’s least-used pitch. Kremer has a 5.02 ERA on the season, but makes for a solid streamer next week against the White Sox.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #74
Ryan Walker allowed one run on two hits but secured a save in a 3-2 win over the Nationals on Sunday.
Walker allowed a lead-off double to CJ Abrams and then, two batters later, allowed a double to James Wood that drove in Abrams and cut the lead in half. He then struck out Nathaniel Lowe and got a fly out to end the game and secure his 10th save of the season. He struggled with command of his slider in this one, which limited his swing-and-miss upside, but he was able to get the job done and remains the closer in San Francisco.
  • SF Shortstop #2
Willy Adames went 0-for-4 with an RBI in a win over the Nationals on Sunday.
Adames drove in the first run of the game with an RBI groundout for his 25th RBI of the season. However, he’s also now gone 18-for-86 in 22 games in May with 28 strikeouts and three home runs. The quality of contact remains solid for Adames, and he’s swinging and missing at a career low rate, but he’s not pulling the ball as much as we’re used to and has the highest launch angle of his career. His BABIP should improve, which should lead to a slight bump in his average, but there are no major signs that he’s getting unlucky.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #35
Dodgers signed RHP Chris Stratton to a one-year contract.
No word yet on the financials of the deal, but Stratton is with the team in New York and will be available for Sunday night’s battle against the Mets. Stratton was released by the Royals on Thursday after struggling to a 7.94 ERA, 2.18 WHIP and a 16/8 K/BB ratio over 17 innings in 12 appearances at the big league level. He’ll function in a middle relief role for the Dodgers.
  • WSH Left Fielder #29
James Wood went 1-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Giants on Sunday.
It wasn’t a great day for the Nationals’ offense against Robbie Ray, but Wood hit a double off of Ryan Walker in the ninth inning to record the only RBI of the day for the Nationals. The 22-year-old has 36 RBI on the season.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #28
Dodgers optioned RHP Bobby Miller to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The 26-year-old hurler was called up from Triple-A on Saturday to add a fresh arm to the bullpen and he gave up one run on two hits over his two innings of work against the Mets. He’ll return to the rotation at Triple-A Oklahoma City where he’ll stay ready until the Dodgers’ need him again. Chris Stratton was added to the roster in a corresponding move on Sunday.
