Jered Weaver improved to 8-0 by allowing one run over six innings Sunday against the Yankees. He fanned eight.
The lone run scored on Craig Wilson’s homer. After three straight no-decisions, Weaver became the first pitcher since Livan Hernandez in 1997 to win his first eight career decisions. The Angels improved to 4-2 against the Yankees this season and 53-50 since 1996. They are the only team in the Joe Torre era to have a winning record over New York.

Joc Pederson suffered a fractured right hand in Saturday’s loss to the White Sox.
Top prospect Clarke to be called up by Athletics
Following the Atheltics' announcement that they are calling up prized outfield Denzel Clarke, James Schiano discusses what the toolsy prospect with "blazing speed" will bring to the pro level.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #84
Marlins optioned RHP Lake Bachar to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Bachar worked 2 2/3 innings during Friday’s loss to the Angels, so he’ll head back to Jacksonville with Jansen Junk providing a fresh arm for the Fish in their series against the Angels.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #60
Marlins selected the contract of RHP Jansen Junk from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Junk will head up with Lake Bachar heading down to create some length in the Marlins’ bullpen. It’s unlikely Junk will make starts or see save opportunities with Miami, so fantasy managers have no reason to consider him no matter the league they play in.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #36
Angels recalled RHP Caden Dana from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Dana is up to give the Angels a fresh arm, but it’s worth noting the 21-year-old has not pitched well in Triple-A with a 5.21 ERA over 38 innings. There’s some long-term potential for Dana, but even if he started games for the Halos, he’s not someone to consider for a fantasy roster in 2025.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #64
Angels designated RHP Shaun Anderson for assignment.
Anderson gets the boot from the active and 40-man roster with Caden Dana promoted from Triple-A to take his place. The 30-year-old veteran could see interest on the waiver wire, but is just as likely to report back to Triple-A Salt Lake at this stage of his career.
  • CIN Shortstop #44
Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base in Saturday’s 6-4 win over the Cubs.
De La Cruz filled the stat sheet in the team’s victory Saturday, starting with a two-run homer in the first inning off Colin Rea. He drove in two more runs with a base hit in the fifth before stealing second and scoring on a hit by Spencer Steer. De La Cruz reached one more time with a walk in the seventh. The 23-year-old shortstop is slashing .248/.322/.417 with nine homers, 35 runs scored, 37 RBI, and 17 steals across 230 plate appearances.
  • CHC Catcher #15
Carson Kelly went 2-for-2 with a solo homer and two runs scored against the Reds on Saturday.
Kelly replaced an injured Miguel Amaya at catcher in the fifth inning. He led off the seventh with a base hit and scored on a groundout. Kelly later led off the ninth with a solo homer off Emilio Pagán. The 30-year-old backstop is up to nine homers while hitting .301/.425/.612 with 24 RBI across 127 plate appearances.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #15
Emilio Pagán allowed one run with two strikeouts to record the save against the Cubs on Saturday.
Pagán got the save chance on Saturday, closing out the game with a three-run lead against the Cubs. Carson Kelly took him deep to lead off the inning, cutting the lead to two. A double by Matt Shaw brought the tying run to the plate with one out before Pagán recorded the final two outs for his 13th save.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #41
Andrew Abbott allowed one run with two strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Cubs on Saturday.
Abbott surrendered a solo homer to Justin Turner in the third inning. That would be the only run the Cubs could bring in to score against the 25-year-old left-hander. He scattered five other hits and two walks while striking out two batters. Abbott ends the day with an excellent 1.77 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 45/17 K/BB ratio across 40 2/3 innings. He’ll look to keep it going in a rematch against the Cubs in Chicago on Friday.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #53
Colin Rea allowed six runs with eight strikeouts over five innings in a loss against the Reds on Saturday.
Rea served up a two-run homer to Elly De La Cruz in the first inning. A double, walk, and sacrifice fly brought a third run in to score for the Reds in the fourth. Rea run into more trouble in the fifth as the Reds brought three more runs in on four hits before his day was done. He struck out eight. The 34-year-old right-hander will take a 3.28 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 40/14 K/BB ratio across 46 2/3 innings into a rematch against the Reds in Chicago on Friday.
