Chase Headley went 4-for-4 with two homers Saturday for Single-A Lake Elsinore.
Headley, a 2005 second-round pick, could be the Padres’ third baseman of the future. He’s currently batting .280/.373/.441 in 143 at-bats for Lake Elsinore.

Nolan Arenado delivered a go-ahead three-run triple in the sixth inning on Friday, propelling the Cardinals to a 4-3 victory over the Diamondbacks.
The Cardinals entered the sixth inning trailing 1-0 until Ivan Herrera drew a bases-loaded walk to tie it. Arenado then stepped to the plate with two outs and smacked a 1-1 fastball for a bases-clearing triple that put the Cardinals ahead to stay. The 34-year-old third baseman finished the night 1-for-3 and is now hitting .243/.313/.392 with five homers, 24 RBI and one stolen base on the season.
Top prospect Clarke to be called up by Athletics
Following the Atheltics' announcement that they are calling up prized outfield Denzel Clarke, James Schiano discusses what the toolsy prospect with "blazing speed" will bring to the pro level.

Victor Scott II went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, stolen base and a run scored on Friday night as the Cardinals triumphed over the Diamondbacks.
The 24-year-old speedster singled with one out in the third inning and swiped second base, but he was left stranded there. He also led off the sixth inning with a single and scored the tying run as Ivan Herrera worked a bases-loaded walk. With his two-hit effort, Scott is now hitting .283/.355/.388 with two homers, 18 RBI and 14 stolen bases on the year.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #56
Ryan Helsley walked the tightrope in the ninth inning on Friday night but managed to escape with the lead intact to earn his 10th save of the season.
The 30-year-old right-hander made things interesting as he allowed a leadoff single to Randal Grichuk. After retiring Geraldo Perdomo and Tim Tawa, he served up a two-run homer to Gabriel Moreno that pulled the Diamondbacks to within one run. That set up a battle with Diamondbacks’ superstar Corbin Carroll who popped out to third base to end it. Helsley has now converted 10 of his first 12 save chances on the season while registering a 3.71 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a 17/10 K/BB ratio over 17 innings.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #39
Miles Mikolas was terrific once again in Friday’s victory over the Diamondbacks, allowing just one run on four hits across his six innings of work.
The veteran right-hander punched out four batters on the night while issuing only one base on balls. The only blemish on his day came in the form of a leadoff home run from Ketel Marte to start the fourth inning. Mikolas got just three swings and misses on 81 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 27 percent. With his impressive run recently, Mikolas now sports a respectable 3.51 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and a 31/16 K/BB ratio over 51 1/3 innings in his first 10 starts. He’ll do battle against the Orioles his next time out in Baltimore on Wednesday evening.
  • ARI 2nd Baseman #4
Ketel Marte slugged a solo home run on Friday night as the Diamondbacks fell to the Cardinals.
Marte opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 408-foot (107.2 mph EV) solo shot off of Miles Mikolas to lead off the fourth inning. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night. For the season, the 31-year-old second baseman is now slashing .269/.382/.570 with eight homers, 12 RBI and one stolen base in his first 27 games.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #23
Zac Gallen wasn’t at his best in Friday night’s loss to the Cardinals, giving up four runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings.
The 29-year-old right-hander struggled with his command in this one, issuing four walks while striking out four. Gallen threw just 55 of his 100 pitches for strikes on the evening. All of the damage done against him came in his final inning of work as he walked Ivan Herrera with the bases loaded and then gave up a three-run triple to Nolan Arenado, the final hitter that he faced. Gallen got 11 whiffs on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 24 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he carries a disappointing 5.25 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 63/29 K/BB ratio (61 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Pirates.
  • CHC Center Fielder #4
Pete Crow-Armstrong had a two-run homer, a grand slam and a double from the cleanup spot as the Cubs topped the Reds 13-6 on Friday.
The Reds were up 4-0 after three and 6-2 after six, but the Cubs went on to score six in the seventh, three in the eighth and two in the ninth. All of the runs in the seventh, when PCA hit the slam, came after Matt McLain botched an easy play at second base. Crow-Armstrong’s slam was nearly foul. In fact, he waited in the batter’s box for nine seconds to see if the moon shot would prove fair, which it did on replay. It made for what had to be the longest home run trot of his career. He’s up to 14 homers and 46 RBI on the season.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #16
Matthew Boyd surrendered four runs in four innings Friday in a no-decision against the Reds.
Boyd gave up five straight hits to start the game, three of them soft, to put himself into a 3-0 hole. He bounced back from there, but he’d already run up quite a pitch count and left after four. He ended up allowing just four hard-hit balls tonight, but he gave up eight hits anyway. It was both his shortest start of the year and the first time he’s given up more than three earned runs. He’ll take a 4-2 record and a 3.42 ERA into his next start at home against the Rockies.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #21
Hunter Greene allowed two runs over four innings against the Cubs in his return from the injured list Friday.
Greene was returning from his groin strain without the benefit of a rehab start and threw 83 pitches in his four innings, so he wasn’t allowed to go any deeper tonight. He had terrific velocity in the outing, averaging 100.0 mph with his fastball and topping out at 101.2. He should go longer and perform better next week versus the Royals.
  • CHC Left Fielder #27
Seiya Suzuki went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer, a double and three runs scored against the Reds on Friday.
It’s pretty much the same game he had Tuesday: 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and three runs scored. Although Suzuki’s average is down this month, he’s hitting a fine .262/.316/.550 for the year. He’s tied for 10th in the majors with 13 homers, and he’s in second place with 46 RBI, one behind a guy who had eight today (Rafeal Devers) and one ahead of his teammate who had six tonight (Pete Crow-Armstrong).
