That would be all of the run support that Tanner Bibee and company would require in this one. The 39-year-old first baseman finished the night 1-for-2 and is now hitting .235/.345/.370 with six homers, 26 RBI and a pair of stolen bases on the season.

The versatile 23-year-old drew a start at second base in this one and made the most of it, walloping a 373-foot (97.4 mph EV) solo shot off of Jack Flaherty to open the fifth inning, extending the Guardians’ advantage to 3-0. He also added a two-run double in the ninth inning to help put the game away. For the season, he’s slashing a solid .289/.314/.412 with the aforementioned two long balls, 15 RBI and four stolen bases through his first 122 plate appearances.

The 32-year-old superstar singled off of Jack Flaherty with one out in the fourth inning and came around to score the game’s first run on a two-run double off the bat of Carlos Santana. Ramírez also singled with two outs in the eighth inning but was left stranded there. With his two-hit attack, Ramírez is now slashing .309/.365/.520 with nine homers, 24 RBI and 12 stolen bases through his first 47 games on the season.

The 26-year-old right-hander piled up eight strikeouts on the night while issuing one base on balls. All three of the hits against him were singles. Only once did the Tigers threaten against him, as Javier Baez blooped a one-out single into center in the third inning that put two runners on base, but Bibee battled back to strike out Kerry Carpenter and then got Gleyber Torres on a liner to center to end the threat. He generated 14 whiffs on 96 pitches on the night — two or more on five different offerings — while posting a strong CSW of 32 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine effort as he carries a 3.57 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 43/18 K/BB ratio (58 innings) into a tough matchup against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Báez blooped a single into center off of Bibee in the third inning, but wound up being stranded there. He also added an infield single off of Cade Smith in the eighth inning, but once again the Tigers were unable to cash him in. The 32-year-old continues to unexpectedly shine at the plate this season, slashing a robust .292/.329/.472 with six homers, 29 RBI, one stolen base and a 33/5 K/BB ratio through his first 152 plate appearances.

Flaherty racked up eight strikeouts on the evening while issuing three free passes. After starting his day with three scoreless frames, he allowed a two-run double to Carlos Santana in the fourth inning and then a leadoff solo shot to Angel Martinez in the fifth inning. The 29-year-old hurler generated nine whiffs on108 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll look to get back in the win column as he brings a 4.39 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 64/18 K/BB ratio (53 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Giants.

The clause, when activated, gives the Yankees 72 hours to add Hummel to the big league roster, trade him or release him. It sounds like we should know before Saturday what the Bombers intend to do. The versatile 30-year-old has hit .258/.415/.290 with zero homers, two RBI and an 8/9 K/BB ratio over 41 plate appearances thus far at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The 25-year-old hurler spent nearly a week in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen, but didn’t end up getting into a ballgame to make his big league debut. He’ll go back to dominating hitters at the Triple-A level while he waits for another opportunity. Look for the D’Backs to make a corresponding move prior to Friday’s game against the Cardinals.

He’ll head for further evaluation and likely imaging to determine exactly what’s going on there. It’s possible that it’s related to the hamstring injury that Torres battled at the beginning of May. The Tigers probably won’t have an additional update on his status until Friday, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he wound up on the injured list here. If that’s the case, look for Colt Keith to slide back over to second base, opening at-bats in the designated hitter spot for the Tigers.

The 34-year-old hurler had been designated for assignment over the weekend and passed through waivers unclaimed. He struggled to a 7.94 ERA over 17 innings in 12 appearances with the Royals this season. He’s now free to explore other opportunities on the open market if he so chooses.
