The 2022 MLB season is firing on all cylinders and the first few weeks of fantasy baseball matchups are underway. All managers carry players on their roster who start hot and, naturally, others who are slow out of the gates or are recovering on the injured list. There’s never a bad time to begin sifting through your roster to see who you’d like to hang onto until September and who you might want to ship off, all while taking position needs into consideration. We’ve already begun to see some players flex their talents and boost their rest-of-season fantasy value. It’s time to start tinkering with those trade possibilities, fantasy GMs.

Our MLB Season Tools can help make trade construction and roster management much easier. Featuring a vast array of helpful tools -- from Rankings, Daily and Weekly Projections to the Start/Sit tool and many more -- we’re confident our 2022 season tools are the sharpest we have ever produced.

Today, we’re highlighting a Trade Analyzer trial run for a roster in desperate need of upgrading the right side of its infield. With this feature, you can tinker with your heart’s desire by leveraging players on your roster you’d part ways with vs. the projected rest-of-season value among the players you’re looking to acquire. The Analyzer’s algorithm takes scheduling and prior performance into account so, barring injury, you’ll be evaluating potential deals that will work out for both sides. Check it out:

The Trade Analyzer projects this deal as a balanced exchange for both sides. Our hypothetical roster is well-staffed at the OF positions, but it could use a boost in the home runs and total bases categories. Not to mention, the roster is already set with two RPs whereas the other side is lacking save-category production. Therefore, giving up Gregory Soto, a talented but still-ascending closer on a young team, is a loss worth accepting if it means acquiring the offensive pop courtesy of Brandon Lowe and Pete Alonso. In fact, you could argue Lowe is the centerpiece of this trade as he offers positional versatility (2B/OF eligibility) and elite contact-hitting. He is also frequently one of the most consistent hitters in all of fantasy baseball. It also looks like Pete Alonso is back to crushing baseballs, and it’s worth betting on his proven ability to slug 50+ home runs.
