A sixth-round pick of the Broncos in 2010, Olsen spent 2011 on the Redskins’ practice squad. He’ll provide depth for the Wild Card round of the playoffs, but is unlikely to get on the field.

Higgins appeared in two games in 2012 after being promoted from the practice squad in Week 13, catching one pass. Olsen played in all 16 games and started four at right guard. They’re pure depth players.

New Orleans failed to disclose Olsen’s injury. The 25-year-old was signed off the Redskins’ practice squad in January of 2012. He went on to appear in all 16 games for the Saints last season, making four starts.

A true journeyman interior lineman, Olsen has had stints with the Broncos, Saints, Redskins and Steelers since breaking into the league in 2010. He’s appeared in 17 games, including four starts for New Orleans in 2012. Olsen joins Chris Spencer as a second-stringer behind starting center Brian Schwenke and guards Andy Levitre/Chance Warmack.

It’s a sign C Jonathan Goodwin (MCL) is likely returning for Week 11.

It’s a sign the Saints expect Jonathan Goodwin (lower leg) to miss Week 8. Olsen has made 17 career appearances, though zero of those have come since 2012.

The Notre Dame product started 12 games as a senior in 2009 and received third-team All-America from The Sporting News. He’ll strive to part of power running game that the Broncos are transitioning to.
