Ramirez was released by the Blue Jays back in November, and it’s not surprising the 30-year-old is heading overseas. A strong season in the NPB could give him a wider market come 2026.

Ramirez was designated for assignment to make room for Michael Petersen after the Blue Jays claimed him from the Dodgers. Ramirez will now hit the free-agent market, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he looked overseas for a new club.

Ramirez gets caught up in a roster crunch as Toronto clears a spot for newly-acquired reliever Michael Petersen. The 30-year-old rookie righty didn’t make an appearance for the Blue Jays after being claimed off waivers back in early September from the Marlins.

Ramirez heads to Toronto after compiling a lackluster 6.97 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 21/8 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings (15 appearances). The 30-year-old rookie right-hander should get a look in the Blue Jays’ bullpen at some point before the regular season wraps up.

Ramirez is one of three players the Marlins removed from the 40-man roster Tuesday. The 30-year-old will now be a potential waiver claim, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if there’s minimal interest in the right-hander.

Ramírez has made the trip from Jacksonville to Miami a few times in 2024, and he’ll likely be back with the Marlins before the season comes to an end. The 30-year-old has not been effective in the majors and doesn’t offer any worthwhile fantasy relevance.

Ramirez fortifies Miami’s bullpen heading into Friday’s series opener against the division-rival Mets. The 30-year-old rookie righty boasts a pedestrian 5.51 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 16/6 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings (12 appearances) this season for the Marlins.

Ramirez gave up five earned runs in the 10th inning Thursday, resulting in a loss to the Reds that cost him his roster spot. He has a 4.96 ERA in 16 1/3 innings of relief work for the Marlins this season.

The Marlins were in need of some fresh arms in their bullpen with Roddery Munoz getting optioned out on Friday and AJ Puk getting dealt to the Diamondbacks late Thursday night. Ramirez, 30, has pitched very well in his time with the Marlins this season, posting a 0.96 RA, 0.64 WHIP and a 9/1 K/BB ratio across 9 1/3 innings. If he keeps pitching like that, he could wind up working his way into the late inning mix with the Marlins after the trade deadline.

Ramirez was demoted in spite of a 0.96 ERA and a 9/1 K/BB ratio in 9 1/3 innings. At least it’ll give him a leg up on being the next reliever recalled by the Marlins.
