    Panthers waived RB Elijah Holyfield.
The Panthers are also moving on from WR Torrey Smith and CB Kevin Seymour. Carolina needed to clear roster spots for S Natrell Jamerson, WR Ray-Ray McCloud and WR Brandon Zylstra, who were all claimed off waivers Sunday. Holyfield enjoyed a moderately successful preseason, compiling 107 yards from scrimmage (79 rushing, 28 receiving) and two touchdowns on 26 touches. The undrafted rookie would be a logical candidate for the Panthers’ practice squad, assuming he clears waivers.

Panthers signed Georgia RB Elijah Holyfield.
The heavyweight fighter’s son, Holyfield was a four-star recruit who ended up overwhelming in the SEC until a solid senior season where he posted a 159/1,018/6.4/7 line. Nevertheless, Holyfield is a pure grinder with speed in the 4.7s. He will struggle to make 53-man rosters.
