Steelers signed No. 121 overall pick CB Doran Grant and No. 212 overall pick OLB Anthony Chickillo to four-year contracts.
A 30-game starter and key piece in Ohio State’s championship run last year, Grant fell to the fourth round due to concerns he’d get overpowered in man coverage at the NFL level. He’ll try to fill a hole at slot corner for the Steelers. The versatile Chickillo projects mainly as an outside linebacker.

Steelers waived CB Doran Grant and LB Anthony Chickillo.
Grant was a fourth-round pick in May’s draft, but the Steelers are pulling the plug after an unimpressive summer. Chickillo was a sixth rounder. Both players should be headed to the practice squad.
  • FA Defensive Back #35
Steelers selected Ohio State CB Doran Grant with the No. 121 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
Grant (5'10/200) made 30 starts in his four-year Buckeyes career, tallying ten interceptions including five as a senior en route to first-team All-Big Ten honors. He clocked 4.44 at the Combine, but managed disappointing vertical (33") and broad (9'8") jump numbers. Grant is a plus tackler and could be a functional short-term starter in a zone-coverage scheme, but isn’t quite talented enough to match up with NFL wideouts man to man. He will likely spend his big-league career as a sub-package cornerback and special teamer.
