49ers brought in WRs Donte Moncrief and J.J. Nelson for a workout, along with Tavon Austin.

Austin was expected to workout for the Niners, and it seems Moncrief and Nelson are also on the team’s radar as they look to fill out a receiver group that lost Travis Benjamin to an opt out, Marquise Goodwin to a trade, and Deebo Samuel to a foot injury that could keep him out for the first part of the regular season. Meanwhile, rookie WR Brandon Aiyuk remains available in the 12th round of 12-team leagues.

The Moncrief experiment is coming to an end. It’s unlikely that he gets picked up again with just three weeks left in the season. Moncrief will have to make major adjustments to his game to be on an active roster in 2020. The Panthers are activating rookie WR/PR Greg Dortch off the practice squad.

Moncrief’s drop-filled tenure with the Steelers came to an end after Week 8. He’ll now serve as the Panthers’ No. 4 (at best) WR behind D.J. Moore, Curtis Samuel and Jarius Wright. Moncrief remains well off the fantasy radar.

Steelers waived Donte Moncrief.

Moncrief was a massive bust for Pittsburgh after early-season drops made him a healthy scratch by Week 3. In total, the receiver was targeted 15 times this season, and he only caught four of them for just 18 yards. Only 26, Moncrief will get other chances but he’s likely a depth option from this point forward. Diontae Johnson and James Washington will continue to be the secondary options behind JuJu Smith-Schuster for the Steelers.

Moncrief made a solid snag to gain 11 yards in the third quarter, reminding the entire world that he is, in fact, still an active WR on the Steelers. He played 14 snaps total and remains well off the fantasy radar.
