ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that DJ Steward has signed a two-way deal with the Bulls.
After going undrafted in 2021, Steward has yet to appear in an NBA game. He’s spent the entirety of his professional career in the G League, but he’ll get a shot to make his league debut for the rebuilding Bulls. Steward has averaged 19.3 points per game in the 2024 Las Vegas Summer League, including a 37-point performance on Friday.
  • Shooting Guard #26
DJ Steward shot 11-of-19 from the field, and 7-of-7 from the foul line in Friday’s 103-99 overtime win over Atlanta, tallying 37 points, three rebounds, seven assists, and eight 3-pointers in 32 minutes.
Playing with the Bulls as an unrestricted free agent, Steward produced the best individual performance of the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas. While the turnover count (six) was a bit high for the guard, he shot 8-of-14 from three and produced a scoring masterclass. Chicago has filled two of its three available two-way contract slots (Adama Sanogo and Andrew Funk), but a performance like the one he produced on Friday should certainly get Steward on the radar.
  • BOS Shooting Guard #64
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Celtics have signed undrafted free agent DJ Steward to a training camp deal.
Not drafted after his lone season at Duke, Steward has managed to secure a spot for himself in Celtics training camp after two seasons with the Kings’ G League affiliate. According to Wojnarowski, the shooting guard will be competing for a two-way contract slot. Boston has already used two of its three available two-way slots, with JD Davison and Jay Scrubb being those players. Even if he were to secure the final two-way deal, Steward is likely to see the majority of his playing time in the G League next season.
  • FA Shooting Guard #64
DJ Steward led Philadelphia with 36 points (13-for-20 FGs), five rebounds, six assists, one steal and five 3-pointers in a 117-114 win over New Orleans on Sunday.
Steward went undrafted out of Duke and spent time with the Stockton Kings during his first two seasons. He hasn’t done much with the 76ers this summer, but he ended with a big-time performance. He will likely spend this upcoming year in the G-League once again, but a performance like this is encouraging for his career moving forward.
  • FA Shooting Guard #64
DJ Steward shot 8-of-16 from the field and 5-of-6 from the foul line in Monday’s 111-103 loss to the Mavericks, scoring 24 points with one rebound, two assists, and three 3-pointers in 25 minutes.
Steward gave the 76ers a welcome boost off the bench on Monday, but the 76ers were unable to hold on for the win. The undrafted rookie out of Duke is looking to land a training camp opportunity somewhere, and it’s worth noting that Philadelphia has one available two-way contract slot. With Louis King (nine points, two assists, three steals, two blocks, and three 3-pointers in 30 minutes) also in the mix for that final spot, the 76ers’ remaining Summer League games are vitally important to both players.
