    Dillon Peters has signed a one-year contract with the Yakult Swallows of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
    Peters will earn $750,000 overseas this season in Japan. The 30-year-old left-hander made 22 appearances (four starts) last season for the Pirates, finishing with a respectable 4.58 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 26/17 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 innings.

    There wasn’t an official announcement from the Pirates organization, but the move showed up on the team’s official transactions page on Monday evening. It’s unclear how long he’ll be sidelined. The 29-year-old lefty holds a strong 3.86 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 21/16 K/BB ratio across 25 2/3 innings (16 appearances, four starts) this season. There should be an update on his status soon.
