Dillon Gee has announced his retirement from baseball.
Gee spent last season in Japan after splitting his time between the majors and minors the previous few years. The 32-year-old posted a 4.09 ERA over parts of eight big league seasons for the Mets, Royals, Rangers and Twins.

Dillon Gee yielded two runs over 5 2/3 innings in Tuesday’s no-decision loss to the Nationals.
He struck out five and gave up six hits and two walks. Gee has been extremely inconsistent lately, alternating stellar and terrible starts at random. He has just five quality starts in 11 chances since the All-Star break, watching his ERA jump up from 3.76 to 4.37.

Dillon Gee hurled 5 2/3 shutout innings in a 2-0 win over the Nationals on Tuesday night.
Very impressive. Gee gave up just three hits while fanning four and issuing one walk. The 25-year-old right-hander now has a 3.07 ERA and 13/4 K/BB ratio over 17 2/3 innings this spring. While he’s not the most exciting fantasy option, he should do fine as the Mets’ fifth starter.

Dillon Gee yielded one run over two innings in his spring debut Monday against the Nationals.
Gee gave up two hits (including a solo homer by Rick Ankiel) while striking out one and walking one. The 25-year-old is assured of a rotation spot this season after going 13-6 with a 4.43 ERA over 160 2/3 innings as a rookie last year, but there’s not much fantasy upside here.

Dillon Gee wasn’t fooling the Giants in the second game of Monday’s doubleheader, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and a walk over 6 2/3 innings.
He struck out five. Gee was taken deep by Pablo Sandoval and Hector Sanchez, a longball that knocked the right-hander out of the game. It’s easily Gee’s worst outing of the year, as he entered the game with a sub-3.00 ERA. He’ll have to bounce back this weekend in a tough venue in Colorado.

Sunday’s game between the Giants and Mets has been postponed due to rain.
The two clubs will play a doubleheader Monday. Tim Lincecum will face Miguel Batista in Game 1, while Madison Bumgarner and Dillon Gee will get the ball in Game 2.

Dillon Gee struggled in his 2012 debut Tuesday against the Nationals, allowing three runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
The Mets have high hopes for Gee coming off of his impressive 13-win rookie season, but he was less than ideal tonight. A positive sign is that he did manage to strike out six against only one walk. His pitches caught far too much of the plate, though, and he looked very hittable. He’ll attempt to right the ship next time out against Atlanta.

Dillon Gee took a no-decision in Wednesday’s 10-6 win over the Phillies, allowing four runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings of work.
Gee struck out four and walked none. Tonight was the first time in five starts Gee failed to complete at least six innings of work, though it was also his first walk-free night of the year. Now the owner of a 4.78 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 33/8 K/BB ratio through his first 37 2/3 innings, Gee will get the Brewers at home next Tuesday.

Dillon Gee allowed two runs in four innings and struck out five Wednesday against the Tigers.
There’s no real shame in giving up a two-run homer to Prince Fielder. Gee, the Mets’ No. 5 starter, has allowed five runs in nine innings this spring.

Dillon Gee turned in a strong performance against the Diamondbacks on Friday, allowing just two runs on four hits over his six innings of work.
Gee punched out six and walked just three in the game. The strong performance lowers his ERA to 4.50 on the season, though he still sits at 2-2. With all of the turmoil going on at the back-end of the Mets rotation, Gee’s spot is extremely secure regardless of how much he struggles right now, though the improved effort can’t hurt his cause. He’ll look to get back in the win column when he squares off against the Phillies in Philadelphia next week.
