David Nwaba is expected to be waived by the Thunder in order to make room for Isaiah Joe.
Nwaba came over in a trade from Houston and will have to try to land with someone else once the Thunder cut him.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Thursday that the Thunder have traded Derrick Favors, Ty Jerome, Moe Harkless, Theo Maledon, and a 2025 2nd from Atlanta to Houston for David Nwaba, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, and Marquise Chriss.
This may be the furthest thing from a blockbuster deal, but it helps get OKC $10 million under the luxury tax while acquiring two trade exceptions, and Houston got a second-round pick for only taking on $1 million in cap space. This move was simply about moving money around for these teams. Nwaba was solid for Houston two years ago, but his role dwindled last season. Now, he’ll get a fresh start in OKC, but it probably won’t result in a huge role. Leave him off your draft board, though he could make an impact later in the season if OKC benches all of their starters again.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
David Nwaba scored a season-high 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting (2-of-2 3-pointers) to go with one rebound, one assist, one block, and one steal as the Rockets lost to the Pelicans 130-105 on Sunday.
The Rockets got run out of the gym on Sunday so Nwaba got to get some garbage buckets in this one. He made the most of his minutes though, which is all you can ask of him, so props to him. Needless to say, he is not a fantasy target. Jalen Green chipped in 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting (2-of-5 3-pointers) with four assists, two rebounds, one steal, and four turnovers in 27 minutes. The Rockets will play the Suns on Wednesday looking to get off of a two-game slide.

  • HOU Center #28
Alperen Sengun (ankle) is questionable ahead of Wednesday’s game vs. the Spurs.
Sengun has six consecutive games but is a game-time decision ahead of Wednesday’s game. If he returns, David Nwaba and KJ Martin Jr. could see a slight hit in playing time.

  • ATL Shooting Guard #24
Garrison Mathews (left ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Timberwolves.
Mathews has been a star in his role for the Rockets this season, but if he is unable to suit up Sunday night, David Nwaba and Josh Christopher will likely see a bump in minutes.

  • ATL Shooting Guard #24
Garrison Mathews has cleared quarantine and is in the starting lineup for Monday’s game vs. Philly.
Mathews is back after a four-game absence and he’ll be replacing David Nwaba in the first unit tonight. Joining him in the starting five will be Eric Gordon, Jalen Green, Jae’Sean Tate and Daniel Theis with Kevin Porter Jr. and Christian Wood suspended for this one.

  • MIL Point Guard #3
Kevin Porter Jr. (left thigh) will play in Tuesday’s game vs. the Lakers.
Porter Jr. has missed his last 12 games but will play Tuesday night, meaning Josh Christopher, David Nwaba, or Armoni Brooks, will likely head back to the bench. Porter Jr. will face minute restrictions, but fantasy managers should have him in their active lineup.

  • HOU Shooting Guard #4
Jalen Green (injury management) will play in Tuesday’s game against the Lakers.
After getting a night off on a front end of a back-to-back, Green will play Tuesday night, alongside Kevin Porter Jr. Coach Silas said ‘he’ll be conscious of the minutes he gives Green Tuesday’, meaning Josh Christopher, David Nwaba, or Armoni Brooks, will likely head back to the second unit.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
David Nwaba went for nine points, eight rebounds, two steals, an assist and a triple as Houston lost 123-99 Monday to Charlotte.
Nwaba played well in his first start of the season, teasing a double-double and adding a pair of swipes for good measure. He came into this one averaging 4.3 points and 3.8 rebounds across 12.1 minutes on the season, and even as a starter, his upside is quite limited.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
David Nwaba (right wrist surgery) said his wrist is 100% for training camp
Nwaba briefly played with a severely sprained wrist last season, but had surgery to fix the ailment in March. The signed him for $15 million over three years this offseason, so they obviously like him, but he’s buried on the depth chart behind Danuel House, KJ Martin Jr. and others.
