Rangers signed RHP David Buchanan to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Buchanan finished last year as a member of the Reds, and he was outrighted off the 40-man roster by Cincinnati at the beginning of September. The 35-year-old will be a depth piece for Texas in 2025 with an outside chance of making appearances for the Rangers this summer.

Reds sent RHP David Buchanan outright to Triple-A Louisville.
Buchanan went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week by Cincinnati and might wind up opting to stick around as extra organizational depth. The 35-year-old journeyman righty made his first appearance in the big leagues over the weekend since the 2015 season.

Reds designated RHP David Buchanan for assignment.
Buchanan is now off the 40-man roster, and the Reds needed the room to activate Brandon Williamson (shoulder) off the 60-day injured list. Buchanan will now be on the waiver wire, but there’s likely to be limited interest in the 35-year-old.

Reds selected the contract of RHP David Buchanan from Triple-A Louisville.
Buchanan returns to the majors for the first time since the 2015 season just a few days after being acquired from the Phillies in a rare post-trade deadline swap. The 35-year-old journeyman righty figures to pitch in long relief for Cincinnati.

Reds acquired RHP David Buchanan from the Phillies for cash considerations.
It’s an extremely rare post-trade deadline swap. Buchanan hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since the 2015 season and is merely emergency organizational depth at this advanced stage of his career. The 35-year-old righty has spent the entire year in Philadelphia’s system, posting a pedestrian 4.51 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 82/33 K/BB ratio across 109 2/3 innings (23 appearances, 17 starts).
  • PHI Third Baseman #37
Phillies optioned INF/OF Weston Wilson to Triple-A Lehigh Valley; reassigned RHP David Buchanan, OF Jordan Luplow and Cs Cam Gallagher and Aramis Garcia to minor league camp.
Wilson is the clear headliner here as he figures to be up and down this season in a bench role, as needed. He’s currently dealing with a left hand injury that he suffered during Thursday’s spring training contest. Luplow was picked up earlier this month and could be an option in a corner outfield spot, if necessary.

Phillies signed RHP David Buchanan to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Buchanan returns to the Phillies after spending seven seasons overseas — three in Japan and the past four in the Korea Baseball Organization. The 34-year-old hurler delivered his finest season in 2023, going 12-8 with a 2.54 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 139/43 K/BB ratio over 188 innings in his 30 starts. It’ll likely take an injury for him to crack the Phillies’ rotation, but he’s a nice depth addition for the ballclub.

David Buchanan has re-signed with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Buchanan last appeared in the majors with the Phillies back in 2015. He’s spent the last six seasons overseas and will return for a third season with the Samsung Lions. He can earn up to $1.6 million this upcoming season in Korea.

David Buchanan has re-signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Buchanan last appeared in the majors with the Phillies back in 2015. The 32-year-old righty logged three seasons with the Yakult Swallows in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball before spending the last two years in Korea with the Lions as a member of their starting rotation.

David Buchanan has signed a one-year, $700,000 contract with the Seibu Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization.
2020 will be the fourth straight year in the KBO for Buchanan, who last appeared in a major league game back in 2015 with the Phillies. The 30-year-old right-hander posted a messy 4.82 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, and 75/41 K/BB ratio over 130 2/3 innings (25 starts) for the Yakult Swallows in 2019.
