David Akers will miss tonight’s preseason game with a quadriceps strain.
Akers has also missed a few practices because of the injury. Drafting Akers may require a pick between rounds 10-12, so he’s not worth the risk if banged up. Coach Andy Reid did say Akers would be available if it was a regular season game.

He’s listed as probable. As long as he stays that way, don’t worry about him.

  • FA Kicker (FG) #2
David Akers booted a 55-yard field goal in Philadelphia’s 16-10 loss Sunday.
His injury problems are a thing of the past. Coming off a down year, there’s no better late target at kicker in fantasy leagues.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #2
David Akers, who says he’s not 100% healthy, nailed a 60-yard field goal at the end of Eagles practice Thursday.
Akers wasn’t his usual self after suffering a slightly torn hamstring at the start of the 2005 season. He remains one of the elite kickers in football and is a great fantasy option in the last round or two if he slips that far.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #2
David Akers connected on field goals of 40, 49, and 52 yards Friday.
Akers has been very good in the preseason. He could be undervalued by owners this year due to his big dropoff in production last season.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #2
49ers K David Akers has set a single-season franchise record with 38 made field goals this season.
Akers is just two field goals away from tying Neil Rackers for the most ever in one season. He’s clearly fantasy’s No. 1 kicker, well ahead of Dan Bailey and John Kasay. It’s a tribute to both Akers and the 49ers’ inept red-zone offense.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #2
David Akers went 5-for-5 on field goals in Sunday’s third preseason game against the Broncos.
Akers set a franchise record for made field goals last season and is picking up right where he left off. Through three preseason games, he’s 8-for-8. The Niners’ red-zone struggles make Akers an elite fantasy kicking option.
