Nationals released INF Dante Bichette Jr.
Bichette is one of many players who were told they weren’t needed because there’s not expected to be a minor league season this year. The 27-year-old is batting .297/.348/.402 with two homers over 73 games with the Nationals’ Double-A affiliate last season.

Nationals signed INF Dante Bichette Jr. to a minor league contract.
Bichette Jr. has been playing in independent ball the last two seasons. He used to be a decent prospect as a former first-round pick by the Yankees, but he’s merely organizational depth at this point.

Dante Bichette Jr. homered in both of his at-bats off the bench Saturday against the Astros.
Bichette didn’t receive an invite to camp prior to the spring, but he was brought over from the minors today and made quite an impression in his first two at-bats of the spring. The 19-year-old third baseman is slated to open the year in Low-A ball.

Yankees 1B prospect Dante Bichette bopped two homers Monday in a win for Double-A Trenton.
He also supplied a go-ahead double in the 11th inning. Bichette had been hitless in his last 10 at-bats before Monday’s outburst. The 23-year-old arrived at Double-A in 2014 but has yet to advance to a higher level. He carries a .247 average with 38 HR and 314 RBI over 2,336 career minor league at-bats. He’s never been a top prospect but Bichette still has time to turn things around.

The Yankees have signed sandwich round pick 3B Dante Bichette Jr. to a $750,000 contract.
Bichette had arguably the best power of any prep hitter in the draft, sporting a .640/.723/1.198 batting line in his senior season at Orangewood Christian High School in Florida. He played shortstop in high school but projects as a third baseman or possibly an outfielder as a pro. Bichette’s father, Dante Sr., played 14 major league seasons and made four All-Star teams while with the Rockies.

Rockies signed INF Dante Bichette Jr. to a minor league contract.
A compensation round pick in the 2011 Draft, Bichette’s career hasn’t progressed as hoped, as he’s now 25 and yet to advance past Double-A. Most recently, he batted .262/.352/.352 with four homers over 72 games at Double-A Trenton in the Yankees organization. Bichette Jr. is now in the organization where Bichette Sr. became a four-time All-Star.
