Vikings selected Oklahoma OT Walter Rouse with the No. 177 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Rouse (6'6/313) played four years at Stanford before transferring to Oklahoma as part of the exodus from Palo Alto that resulted from then-HC David Shaw’s resignation. The former Freshman All-American made an immediate impact in Norman, replacing current Jacksonville Jaguar Anton Harrison. Though his testing projects elite explosiveness with a 33” vert and 9’02’ broad jump, this is not necessarily reflected in his play. He uses a relatively solid fundamental base to overcome most of his physical limitations and hits clear landmarks in all of his sets, though their deliberate nature is noticeable. Rouse is a three-time all-conference left tackle whose value derives from his ability to soundly carry out his assignments, which points to a possible pro future as a competent backup lineman.

Stanford junior OT Walter Rouse (undisclosed) not participating in Stanford’s spring game.
It’s unclear why Rouse is missing the spring game, but a spring game is mostly a glorified practice anyway, so it should not be too concerning. Rouse (6'6/312) has been Stanford’s starting LT for the past two seasons. He took over the job as a true freshman in 2019 and struggled, but came into his own more in 2020. Assuming Rouse remains on that trajectory, he may well be one of the better tackles in the conference, which would be a huge boon for a Stanford roster that looks sort of shaky.

Uncommitted three-star 2019 T Walter Rouse is choosing between Stanford and Notre Dame.
Rouse (6'6/285) was on-hand for Notre Dame’s clutch win over Michigan on Saturday, and he’s got another big unofficial set for this coming weekend, too. That’ll come when Stanford hosts USC under the bright primetime lights. Once that trip to Palo Alto is in the books, he’ll weigh his options and try to come to a final decision. On the 247Sports composite board, Rouse ranks as the No. 6 prospect in the Washington D.C. area.
