Packers OC Adam Stenavich said there’s “a zillion different ways” to use WR Savion Williams in the offense.
There’s a good chance this quote is viewed as nothing more than minicamp hype in a few months, but it’s an interesting note. Williams was one of two receivers drafted by the Packers last month, but as a rookie third-rounder, he will need to battle to earn significant playing time out of training camp. The 6-foot-4, 222-pound receiver lined up on the outside on 84.3 percent of his snaps for his career at TCU, but surprised last season when he unexpectedly saw 51 rush attempts and turned those carries into 322 yards (6.3 YPC) and six scores on the ground. He also averaged an impressive 4.22 YCO/ATT on those carries and forced a missed tackle at a 43.1 percent rate. It’s worth noting that Williams played 46 snaps at quarterback and another 38 out of the backfield. While he was never the most productive receiver, this “offensive weapon” profile he appears to have could be his ticket to more playing time as a rookie. That said, we’ve also seen players with these profiles fall by the wayside over time. The Packers liked Williams enough to use the No. 87 pick on him in the draft, but in an already crowded receiver room, he may need to find other ways to stand out once training camp ramps up.

Packers signed third-round pick WR Savion Williams to a four-year contract.
Williams joins the Packers’ comically deep wide receiver group and is best suited to being stashed on dynasty benches. He is unlikely to contribute to re-draft league lineups in year one. Per the NFL’s pre-determined rookie wage scale, the contract is worth up to $6.289 million. The Packers front office also announced the signing of six players drafted in Rounds 3-7, plus 10 undrafted free agents, today. Drafted players include DL Barryn Sorrell, DL Collin Oliver, DL Warren Brinson, CB Micah Robinson and OG John Williams.

Packers selected TCU WR Savion Williams with the No. 87 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
A multiple-sport athlete and high school quarterback, Williams was recruited to TCU as a wide receiver but never fully made the transition. Instead, he got the “weapon” treatment as a senior, catching 60 passes while earning an additional 51 carries. He totaled 611 receiving yards and 322 rushing yards while scoring a dozen touchdowns, split evenly between rushing and receiving. At 6’4/222, Williams has the build of someone who could play running back at the next level and NFL teams had him do the running back drills at the combine. He ran a 4.48 40-yard dash, an outstanding time for a player of his size. Williams is dynamic with the ball in his hands, but his future team will need a plan to make that happen with any regularity. He will likely start off his career returning kicks while getting a few schemed touches per game.
  • Blair Conwright
    TCU #22
TCU wide receivers Blair Conwright and Savion Williams are not available for Saturday’s game vs. Oklahoma State due to undisclosed injuries.
While Williams (6'5/212) has yet to catch a pass this season, Conwright (5'11/180) ranks second on the team in receptions (17) and third in receiving yards (207). The redshirt freshman has also scored one touchdown for the Horned Frogs. Derius Davis is a name to watch with Conwright sidelined.

Arkansas received a commitment from three-star 2020 WR Savion Williams.
Once Williams (6'4/191) fills out his frame, he’ll have ideal size for the position and he has the talent to eventually earn a starting spot for the Razorbacks. The Texas product is currently unranked by Rivals, but he was receiving interest from Baylor, Houston, and other programs.

Three-star 2020 WR Savion Williams announced his decommitment from Arkansas on Sunday morning.
Williams’ decommitment obviously comes in the wake of HC Chad Morris being fired. It’s hard to blame Williams (6'4/200) for wanting to look elsewhere after the coach who recruited him has been let go. Prior to committing to Arkansas initially, Williams had offers from a slew of AAC and Big 12 schools, including SMU, Memphis, Baylor, and TCU. Williams is from Texas, so maybe one of those Texas schools will be able to sway him.

TCU signed four-star 2020 WR Savion Williams.
Williams (6'4/200) had been in Arkansas’ corner from May into November, but backed off the Razorbacks after the program cut bait on HC Chad Morris. After taking a few months to reassess his options -- SMU was also in the final mix, here -- he’ll be heading to the Horned Frogs. The Marshall, Texas, native is a jump ball maestro who knows how to use his frame to box out defensive backs when going up for the catch. He is not the most refined of receivers at this stage in his development, but TCU will have a ton of potential to tap, here. 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks compares his game to that of former Iowa State standout Hakeem Butler. Brooks’ outlet ranks Williams as the No. 163 overall prospect in the 2020 class.
