Verbal spat with coach reportedly leads to Temple RB’s dismissal

Following a three-touchdown performance in the spring game, Myron Myles was expected to see meaningful playing time in Temple’s backfield as the backup to Bernard Pierce.

Instead, frustration over not seeing the field as much as he thought he should have has led to the running back’s ouster from the program.

The Owls announced Thursday that Myles has decided to transfer from the football program. However, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Myles was dismissed from the team following a verbal altercation with an assistant coach, a disagreement that reportedly stemmed from a lack of playing time.

He decided to pursue options elsewhere and we wish him all the best,” head coach Steve Addazio said in explaining Myles’ departure.

Myles had 133 yards rushing on 20 carries in the annual Cherry and White game this past April; he had zero carries for, oddly enough, zero yards in the first six games of the 2011 season.

There’s no word on where the Ambler, Pa., native may head to next.
