One day after his first official game as USC’s head coach, Clay Helton (pictured) is reportedly making staff changes.
Reports out of Los Angeles say Helton will ax a number of members of Steve Sarkisian‘s staff, most notably defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox.
Also can confirm that #USC defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox has been let go.

USC was sliced and diced by Stanford all-purpose dynamo Christian McCaffrey Saturday night in a 41-22 Pac-12 Championship loss. Wilcox was heard through the walls of the Levi’s Stadium press box shouting a stream of obscenities. Though it’s not the reason he’s gone, it sure couldn’t help Wilcox’s cause.
USC, 8-5 on the season, ranks 85th nationally in yards per play allowed, 70th in total defense and 57th in scoring defense. The Trojans surrendered 41 points to Notre Dame, 48 to Oregon and, again, 41 to Stanford.
Wilcox arrived in Los Angeles alongside Sarkisian in 2014 and previously coordinated his defenses at Washington from 2012-13. He also has coordinator experience at Tennessee and Boise State.
