‘TIRED OF FOOTBALL’, ELWAY’S SON LEAVING ASU PROGRAM

The son of NFL Hall of Famer John Elway has decided to leave the Arizona State football program, the Arizona Republic is reporting.Jack Elway, who was one of five players fighting for the starting quarterback spot, will remain in school at the university. Elway was heavily recruited while a high school player in Colorado, but did not play last year as he was a redshirt his first season with the Sun Devils.”He’s just tired of football and wants to do something else with his life,” ASU coach Dennis Erickson said in a statement yesterday. “He made a decision, and we all understand it. He would have played here eventually."Senior Danny Sullivan, sophomores Samson Szakacsy and Chasen Stangel and true freshman Brock Osweiler will now compete for the starting spot made available by the departure of Rudy Carpenter.
