S. Miss star DeAndre Brown, teammates won’t be suspended for arrest

For the Southern Miss faithful worried about the Golden Eagles being without their most explosive offensive weapon for the season opener, don’t be.

He’ll be on the field.

According to a tweet from ESPN.com’s Joe Schad, wide receiver DeAndre Brown, as well as teammates Johdrick Morris and Martez Smith, will be disciplined internally and, most importantly, will not be suspended for the regular-season opener against South Carolina.

The trio was arrested last week and charged with disorderly conduct after failing to comply with an officer’s attempt to disperse a crowd.

Brown has been far and away the Golden Eagles’ leading receiver each of the past two seasons, while Smith started all 13 games in 2009 at linebacker.
