No matter what you think of the Penn State scandal and the late Joe Paterno, we should all be grateful today’s news came down at the beginning of college football’s offseason rather than, say, Labor Day.
The NCAA officially reinstated Paterno as FBS’s all-time winningest coach on Friday, and State College is embracing its disgraced Hall of Fame coach. Parts of it, anyway.

According to Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com, Penn State’s basketball team will join in for tomorrow’s game with Purdue.

So, again, it’s probably a good thing this news came down in January and not September. No matter where you fall on this issue, though, you gotta admit one thing: that Penn State hockey helmet is pretty sharp.
