Sam Foltz should have been Nebraska’s punter on Saturday. Sadly, the senior to be was killed in a car accident this summer along with former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler while the pair, plus LSU punter Colby Delahoussaye traveled home from instructing younger players at a kicking camp.
Nebraska has done several things to honor Foltz’s memory this summer, including skipping Big Ten media days as it recovered from the tragedy and, on Saturday, allowing the late punter’s nephews to lead the team onto the field against Fresno State.
