The NCAA has spent the last two months cracking the proverbial whip on agents and excessive non-coaching staff.
But drug testing? No so much.
In fact, the NCAA executive committee approved cost-cutting changes to the drug-testing program today. The changes will include limiting steroid tests to schools and/or athletes who are considered a higher risk for drug usage, such as football and baseball.
Repeat testing will also concentrate more on higher-risk sports and will eliminate advance notice given to said athletes and programs.
One item will remain constant, however. The National Center for Drug Free Sport and World Anti-Doping Agency will continue to administer the testing for student-athletes.
