Motor City Bowl gets a name makeover

With GM and Chrysler pulling their sponsorship because of some financial difficulties you may have heard about, the Motor City Bowl has been looking for a new title sponsor.

Today, the long-rumored Little Caesars sponsorship came to fruition as the organization in charge of running the Detroit game announced today that the bowl will now be known as the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.

“I’m a life-long sports fan,” Mike Ilitch, owner of Little Caesars, said in a statement. “This bowl is a great opportunity to provide a fun experience for families and college football fans while supporting college athletics. And what food goes better with football than Little Caesars pizza?”

In addition to a new sponsor, the bowl committee also announced that former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr named as the bowl’s president.

EDIT: For those you really give a crap, here’s the logo for the newly-named bowl game. And, believe it or not, it’s shaped like a slice of pizza. Shocking...
