OK, this is absolutely classic, Michigan State fans. Jim Harbaugh, you too.
Earlier this week, the Internet and social media circles were ablaze with news that Harbaugh, with the recruiting dead period coming to an end, was planning on waiting at the front door of a top prospect at 12:01 a.m. Friday morning. That’s not really abnormal, at least for the recruiting world; what caused the ruckus was the fact that the prospect, Quinn Nordin, the nation’s top kicker, told a recruiting website that the head coach “said we can watch a movie, see how well we gel and he said he would sleep over after that.”
Hence, the “sleepover” meme was born and almost instantly went absurdly viral.
Now, the follow-up: Harbaugh did indeed show up at Norton’s home in Rockford, Mich., just after the stroke of midnight this morning. And what greeted Harbaugh upon his arrival to the neighborhood? A friendly reminder from MSU fans who live in the area of one of the biggest gut-punches of his first season as head coach in Ann Arbor.
Well-played, Sparty Nation. Well-played. And bravo, Coach Harbaugh, for owning it and posting it to your personal Twitter account.
And as for the visit itself? It at least partially worked as, while Norton didn’t verbally commit to the Wolverines, he made his way to Ann Arbor on an official visit -- with Harbaugh riding shotgun.
