Kenny Hill’s parents file trademark for ‘Kenny Trill’

Texas A&M quarterback Kenny Hill is following in Johnny Manziel’s steps in more than one way. Not only is Hill Manziel’s successor as the conductor of the Aggies’ offense, he and his family are taking a page out of Manziel’s playbook. Hill’s parents, Ken Sr. and Lorrie, filed a trademark for Hill’s nickname, “Kenny Trill”, with intent to use it on athletic apparel, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

Hill quickly earned legendary status during his first start with the Aggies when Texas A&M defeated the favored South Carolina Gamecocks 52-28. Hill did something Manziel never did during the game, the Aggies’ current quarterback threw for 511 yards.

Hill was anointed “Kenny Trill.” The term “trill” is a combination of true and real in the rap community most often attributed to Texas rapper Bun B. But the entertainer wasn’t ready to bequeath the title to Hill.

Like the idea of “Kenny Trill” but I think @coachsumlin would agree one good game alone doesn’t make you trill. He’s on his way though!

Throught two games, Hill has 794 passing yards and seven touchdowns without an interception. The quarterback’s next opportunity to earn the nickname will come Saturday against Rice. But the next major obstacle will come Oct. 11 against the 14th ranked Ole Miss Rebels. Like Manziel, Hill must perform in the spotlight to go from a good college player to a true superstar.

As Hill performs on the field, his parents plan to capitalize off of it.

“Sources tell ESPN.com that the Texas A&M licensing and compliance departments have sent out cease and desist letters to five online sites selling ‘Kenny Trill’ shirts,” Rovell reported.

Hill laughed at idea of trademarking the nickname. He’d probably prefer being called “Kenny National Champion” or “Kenny Heisman” when it’s all said and done. But those don’t have quite the same ring to them.
