HEARING FOR GATORS LINEMAN DELAYED SIX WEEKS

Florida Gators offensive lineman Carl Johnson, who a little over two weeks ago was accused by an ex-girlfriend of date rape, had his hearing for violating her sexual violence restraining order against him delayed six weeks this morning.According to the Orlando Sentinel, a civil judge rescheduled the hearing for April 7, at the request of the lawyer for the petitioner.Florida begins spring practice March 25th, and somehow coach Urban Meyer has yet to address the status of Johnson with the team, even after the allegations of date rape came to light. It’s surprising that a player with a known sexual violence restraining order against him remains on the roster, which has yet to be updated on the team’s official website.Johnson looked like a front-runner for one of the tackle positions that have been vacated by Phil Trautwein and Jason Watkins.Count me among the people who would find it wrong if Johnson is allowed to wear the Gators uniform during spring practice while these legal proceedings are still unresolved.
