Harvard Coach Accused of Assault and Battery of Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend

Weird story out of Harvard, where football coach Joe Villapiano was arrested on charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.Villapiano is the recruiting coordinator for the Crimson as well as the running backs coach, and has been on staff at Harvard for the past four seasons. He’s also apparently tried to “run down his pregnant ex-girlfriend in his car."According to a report by Boston’s WCVB-TV, Villapiano has continually harassed his pregnant ex-girlfriend, resulting in a restraining order, and last month nearly ran the woman over and tried to take her out with his car."I heard this car accelerating, and I turned to look where this car was coming from. And it didn’t look like it was going to stop,” the victim said. “If I hadn’t stepped out of the position I was in, I would’ve been hit."A spokesperson for Harvard University had no comment on the case and was unaware that Villapiano had been arrested.Not the smartest of moves for a coach who is working with more than his fair share of smart kids.
